What do you think of this then?
it's a pretty blurry thing to diagnose isn't it? that's a genuine "isn't is?'' as well, I'm really not sure.
Living in a society where people think they're autistic because they like lists or whatever probably means we take it less seriously than we should, but i guess the alternative (or probably what happens a lot of the time) is that it's underdiagnosed.
Aspergers gets very vague towards the more high functioning but to be diagnosed with Autism is pretty specific. Of course you already knew this.
Pretty snide for him to be trolling about what is a potentially an immensely difficult and serious thing for individuals and families to go through but yeah best not to have ill-formed opinions banded round as fact.
There's distinct behavioural, sensory and communication issues that distinguish it from other severe forms of learning difficulties. It's also people with Autism have specific centres and units set up to provide support to their specific problem.

or doubting that severe autism's probably a very difficult thing to live with, i'm just not convinced lots of people diagnosed with autism generally are diagnosed correctly, but then i think that about lots of other disorders and conditions, and you can think that without dismissing the seriousness of those at the other end of the scale.
the fact that people self-diagnose themselves as having stuff like Aspergers, or other (non-comparable) disorders/conditions like OCD, ADHD, even dyslexia, and the fact that these terms have become part of our every day language (http://bit.ly/SJMPmK) suggests i've got a point somewhere.
rubbishy blokes describing themselves as 'a bit Asperger's' because they've abjectly failed to pull a girl is the worst thing ever.
have specific issues around certain facets of their understanding and communication. So you need to stop lumping what is always a SEVERE learning difficulty in with other things.
(Wasn't sure whether to post this or 'suggesting all gays are autistic U FUCKING BIGOT?', but went for the sensible option in the end).
Pretty homophobic of you.
