Your childhood VHS collection
Kind of spin off from weird family films thread.
Like most people, I assume, we had a pretty small collection of films on video (not including ones taped off the telly with block capital DO NOT TAPE OVER stickers on) which would be incessently rewatched out of necessity, almost all either bought from Woolworths, Our Price, the covered market and I think Britannia Music Club. This is, as far as I can remember (not including cartoons and shit), the extent of our video collection from around 8 or 9 to 12 or 13:
Wayne's World 1 & 2
Ghostbusters I & II
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bogus Journey
Monty Python's Meaning of Life
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Tombstone
Dances With Wolves
Jack (the awful Francis Coppola film)
Aliens
Demolition Man
Gremlins 2
Casualties of War (the Brain DePalma Vietnam film)
The Man Who Would Be King
...and my personal favourite, Predator 2 (but not Predator. My Dad put this in my Christmas stocking when I was 8)
I like to think some of the massive disregard for age-appropriate material is what made me such a fan of films. I am indebted to half-arsed parenting.
