Be interested to know what you think. It has several really impressive set pieces but the story is just, well.... average
the simplicity of some of scenes made it hard to do wrong
the message was ultimately not worth the journey. And, barring the stunning visuals, the film was rather dreary. If you are going to tell a story about something so fantastical then it has to be more fulfilling, otherwise it is just not believable.
the kindof film that i enjoyed whilst watching - and then instantly forgot about afterwards
it has been praised to the skies by numerous critics. When that happens, it is reasonable to expect a bit more than OK. Reminded me of the kind of film I'd watch on a plane to alleviate the boredom and then (as you say) forget about the minute I get through arrivals.
i think the 3d helped my enjoyment - like you say some of the set pieces were great. The beginning sequence looked lovely all coming out of the screen.
i don't get the high praise it's receiving at all.
i saw it last night
liked it, would reccomeend
when the dad ties the goat up, to teaxh his son A Lesson
how did the tiger get the goat through the bars?
my biggggessthb gripe
thought exactly the same at the time. Also, couldn't get past Rafe Spall - all I could think about was him playing the slacker shop assistant in Shaun Of The Dead
when he turned up. im an idiot though
Those days of him being an unconventional sex symbol are long, long gone
but then it had like 50 metacritic so we didnt.
come at me
worth a watch
Not one negative review either... If anything, it's been overrated by critics.
must have been another film we looked at
but the story was just so underwhelming. And it's not like I didn't give it a chance either. I finally gave up when the 'carnivorous island' arrived. Eh??
But by that time I'd made up my mind
where we were given the option of what to believe
re god / the story / anything
but i thought they gave the cynics an option, what with the hospial bed scene n all
i'd give it a 7.5/10 seeing as i saw it in 3d
any story is liable to doubt <- is what i meant to write
i thought that about the book as well
almost couldn't believe it
looked great though
and in the end, it didn't deliver.
I didn't think the book was good at all, fwiw. I found the film enjoyable but a bit short on substance.
don't always agree with my dad but this time it was enough to put me off. Will wait for that new Gosling film instead.
but then I didn't like the book at all and the coldplay in the trailer was pretty off-putting.
bits of it looked nice. it was alright.
can't believe I didn't say that the first time round
Really enjoyed it.
as it will be free, if I can get a moment off work that is
You'll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful film in 2013. The story was a bit thin but I was quite LITERALLY swept away by the astonishing cinematography.
an indian lad as Wilson.
They either rave about it or look really miffed they'd been dragged to see it.
I liked it.. it was very pretty & the ending elevated the movie significantly. Carnivorous Island was stupid though.
And it still felt unforfilled. Disappointing.
And it didn't work better in 3d.
it was alright, no idea where all this acclaims come from. I found it much more interesting before they got on the boat when it was about Pi's earlier life and his struggles with faith etc.
It did look pretty, but it looked too CGI and false so wasnt really a world I immersed myself in
that made it feel special, it's a solid movie with some interesting scenes and a nice message at the end. It was something nice to look at and not too hard to follow.
