I fly to New York tomorrow morning but as always before any flight I begin to get irrationally afraid of flying.
Calm my nerves please.
its the take off and landings that are the dangerous bits.
Keep thinking the plane's going to crash causing me to die in a horribly unpleasant fashion.
even when im flying solo.
I'd really like to sit in the cockpit during a take off.
It'd be amazing.
the heavier the better, its fucking awesome.
the scarier the better, really. MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE.
and we're fi-
flying to guyana on a small plane just ahead of a tropical storm was really fucking intense. my gf thought i was just really really pleased to see her, but i was high as fuck on adrenaline.
I try to have a double JD & coke now before boarding but my flight home for Christmas is before 9 in the morning. I know that would be fine in Glasgow but I'm not sure about Stansted.
then 10mg chlorodiapoxide while you're in the air as an when you feel like it. seasoned professional flight fearer here
show those adrenergic receptors whose boss
like to combo the diazepam with the klonopin, but on long flights that stuff really takes it out of you.
on one of my connecting flights from philly i'd swallowed about 20mg of diazepam because i noticed it was one of those old style propeller planes and they were throwing buckets of blue shit on it to make it safe for flying. so fuck the shit out of that, i'm out of here. anyway i woke up mid-flight to a really really panicked flight attendant wondering if i was dead.
another time i ran off a plane and caused dramas.
i'm not good at flying.
we rarely get kpins over here but another good combo is etizolam. on my first ever flight I panicked like FUCK and I didn't have any of that stuff with me. What I did have were sedating anti hisamines and I just about ate the whole pack trying to knock myself out. Didn't work, just threw up in my mouth and then ate the puke in an attempt to salvage. Thank christ for benz
."jesus can i get upgraded to first class over this, he's eating his own sick"
the thing is, the drugs work when the plane is flying, but during takeoff, they just won't shake it the fear fully. only thing that worked was this really cool old man who was just like "whatever happens, happens. but you're gonna be fine" and then engaged me in conversation about my shitty boring life for god knows how long until i passed out on his shoulder.
and it did little for him during take off either.
so he then started taking zopiclon (a sleeping pill) as he was at the security gate, leaving just enough time to get on the plane before he konked out. the margin of error for doing this is a bit small unless you've got a mug in tow who'll steer you onto the plane and into your seat as you start to zone out into sleepyland.
to his credit on the flight to india, he still managed to sleep eat two meals. it took him ages, and watching him do so was both hilarious and cringe inducing in equal measure.
is to fly to the other side of the world and back for a five day stay. 20 hours and 3 or more flights each way, and by the end you'll be over it because you'll have spent so much time on a plane it'll feel like home.
last summer I flew glasgow-london-LAX then LA-San Fran-LA-New York and I'm no better for the experience, though I remember la to san fran being the only one I didn't freak out on. think that was because I sat next to a guy who reminded me of John Waters
you're still hanging around John F. Kennedy airport, trying to bum a few dollars here and there to get a flight back home?
except no, because I'd much rather be at JFK than Glasgow (or UK generally)
Approximately 50x safer than driving in Russia
I clearly wanted an excuse to post this but I am forever astounded by the numeber of wheels falling off things.
it's truly the combination that just keeps metastasizing
people who aren't afraid of flying
is perfectly safe.
what could possibly go wrong?
but you can go to a GP and get a small prescription of valium if you say you're a nervous flyer. They'll just write you a script for 4 tablets. It'll do the trick.
Proceed to put it over your head. This helps.
