Chef's Specials
What's the truth about this sort of stuff? On takeaway menus the chef's specials or chef's recommendation... what's that about? Is it just stuff that's easy to make or something?

In pubs when there's specials on the blackboard
I think that means it's about to go off so they need to sell it
No one got anything to add then
Disappointing
I've just ordered a takeaway, exciting!
- 3 pieces chicken gyoza
- Chicken katsu
- Steamed Japanese rice
- Miso soup
- Coca-Cola (0.33L)
- Singapore Rice Noodle (Mixed Vegetable)
Total: £ 18.60
miso jealous
I've no inside knowledge but I've always assumed it's to do with the chef having disproportionate amounts of certain ingredients left over and so making dishes out of them.
Y'know when in takeaways it says Set Menu for 1/2/3/4, etc...
I've never ever known anyone to buy that.
It doesn't work out cheaper and it's never the nicest dishes.
Glad to clear this up.
Alright moneybags
Just ordered a Chef's Special
It was ok. It was a chicken Handi (Indian). I'd never heard of it, so gave it a go. It took an extra ten minutes to prepare. That's just part of the show though, innit? An excuse to charge an extra two quid on everything else on the menu.
remember the frisps
they just tasted like sour cream or something they were great i don't even know what they were cause they were special
anyone know? cheers
