Oh yeah
Newcastle hobbled by Diabetes
Everyone got through the UEFA cup group stage
Hopefully give Spurs/Liverpool/Newcastle can pick up some useful injuries.
I think this is going well
reckon West Ham can get a result on Sunday?
Yes
which means they won't
Although I think all signs point towards a draw
he's at a lecture right now
we should all be really nice to him when he gets back
Then you don't understand the dark nature of the tears of shrewbie thread
I'm going to whoop it up right in his grill like a big man
Having given it a good few seconds of consideration
I really like the idea of staging Euro 2020 across the whole continent. Especially for the group stages, having each group staged in a different 'hub' could be pretty cool. No idea how it would work for the knockouts.
In the olden days the early rounds were two-legged beasts staged home and away before the finals/semis were held in a host nation. Could be quite fun.
I reckon it's a load of old balls
but it's 8 years away so not worth worrying about
Nah, it's good
Means you can easily go to see some of the game without having to schlep over to Kazakstan or Israel or whichever joke non-European country gets to host it.
yeah, brilliant
it'll be much easier to get tickets
err...
Actually getting tickets won't be any harder or easier
But it takes travel and accomodation out of the equation for the group stages, and it brings a little bit of the party to wherever you are.
(I'm talking about just going along to watch any old match rather than trying to get tickets to see 'your' country. COuldn't really care less about people who do that)
Buying flights in advance would be a nightmare
if coming second in your group meant a fixture in Lisbon and coming first meant one in Minsk. Although it's in 2020 so teleportation may be on the table by then
But surely the fun is having loads of groups of fans in one space
with all other countries having fun and mingling, while warily watching the England fans in the corner of the town square who are singing about World War 2 and have just put a chair through the window of a quaint cafe.
:D
This would be a different kind of fun. Not sure why I've become it's official cheerleader, but there you go.
This was going to be Bradfords season to win the FA Cup too
Going through every round on penalties after a replay.
i think we'll get the semi finals and final of euro 2020
it'd stop UEFA/FIFA having to give us a major tournament for another 20 years, and it'd give the FA the chance to do all the 'footballs true home' stuff.
Liverpool through.
Pleased for Henderson, played well last night and has been working hard on and off the pitch. He's lacked confidence and a manager willing to play him in his favoured position. Here's hoping both those things are in the past.
How do you know he's been working hard off the pitch?
He built the deck out the back of pichael's house
APPARENTLY Joey Barton is gonna sue Martin Samuel
lol
Sunday Supplement might be an absolute joy this weekend :D
I enjoy it every weekend tbf
and so he should.
Of course he shouldn't.
a) Martin Samuel wasn't calling him gay and b) there's nothing wrong with being gay.
Trust Barton to observe this and then find a way to make himself look bad.
Stephane Mbia's twitter is absolutely joyous

#guttedisanunderstatement
nah we weren't gonna beat brentford anyway and even if we did bury/southend was such a poxy 3rd round draw. plus we've still got 8 games in the next month and all the injuries etc etc.
more embarrassed about the incompetence on display here than anything
i mean
:((((((
Unhappy - yet dry-eyed - emoticon.
I think he's going to be ok folks
You've got Phil Parkinson in charge
A man so incompetent he couldn't even turn up for a press conference when he had got a new job. Not really a surprise.
:D
he's great though
he's endearing, straightforward and pleasant
which is probably why he lasted two years at the valley
obviously glad he's doing well at yours
It's a bit embarrassing
how Fergie just delegates this stuff out these days.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20634523
it's almost designed to make Noel Gallagher punch a wall
and Liam Gallagher cries into his Pretty Green Parka hood fur
A Vieira temper tantrum is no doubt already in the process of being recorded
Wonder how Yaya & Kolo are taking it too?
Kolo's laying low

he's such a muppet
Saves the best stuff for himself though

Just read a preview of our game against Sunderland.
Why are they so shit? They seem to have a lot of fairly decent players? I mean, Chelsea are pretty shit right now despite having even better players so I'm not judging. Just wondering what it is they've been doing wrong.
I dunno
Basic maths says
MON + half decent players = profit
and they did great when he took over.
But they are fucking woeful
Think they'll be in the bottom 3 on 1st January
Pretty rough run coming up in December
The only thing that gives me the smallest sembalance of hope is that
The bottom 5/6 are all absolutely shithouse
I STILL haven't reached the stage where I think QPR are going down
Which is ludicrous - if it was any other team on 5 points with Christmas approaching I'd assume they were not only certainties for getting their pants dropped but getting there with a Derby-esque total.
there is talent in that squad and even a few players who have played well at times this season
Cesar, Hoillet, MBia, Granero, Diakite are all good players. With the exception of Granero I'm not sure any of them have produced this season.
QPR have a few games where points are possible and then their January and February fixtures are evil. If they don't get well in touch with other teams by Jan 1st, they are screwed.
Craig Gardner is their only midfielder who hasn't been pants this season.
And they regularly start with John O'Shea, Phil Bardsley and Carlos Cuellar at the back.
poor old danny rose
he seems so frustrated with everyone elses shiteyness
having caught a bit of their game against Norwich
I think people are blinded a bit by their top half and goalie, who are at least midtable standard, and don't realise their back end and engine is absolutely awful- they are agonisingly slow getting the ball up to Johnson and Sessegnon, and Fletcher really should be being used as a poacher rather than a target man. They aren't too bad when Cattermole isn't suspended, but obviously he always is.
It surprises me such a conservative manager as O'Neill wouldn't have sorted out his defence in the summer, but Cuellar is a serious Mark Hughes-type purchase: grasping for past-it players he knows who the club are probably paying through the nose.
Mignolet has looked pretty brilliant the few times I've seen their whole games this season
He single-handedly kept them from losing the game against West Ham.
Mignolet is good
but a team should always try to supplement a good goalkeeper rather than rely on him - otherwise the good goalkeeper starts making mistakes as he did recently.
he's great!
All of that stuff about the engine and the defence being shocking is bang on. More annoyingly the shortcomings are all the same ones we had under Brucie. I don't know what happened to Mclean but he is a total lump now. Sessegnon ain't much better.
mclean's dip is understandable being so young and exploding onto the scene out of nowhere
Sessegnon - it's hard to tell if it's the homesickness, or the weight of having carried the team previously, or tactically subdued.
On his day he's a lovely player, worthy of the role that Arshavin was supposed to have played at Arsenal.
apparently it was the newcastle staff that failed to send the paperwork properly
thanks a lot dickheads
MON is ending his career in a downward spiral
2 problems stick out:
1. He has always been iffy with the transfer market, particularly poor at signing flair/dynamic attacking talent, with a preference for a more run-of-the-mill solid player. At Sunderland, he seems to have relied heavily on Fletcher as the saviour to the teams lack of invention.
2. Tactically, I think the world has moved on, and I'm not convinced O'Neill can catch up. Compare with Ferguson who despite his age and successes has always seen tactical trends coming and adapted. He has 2 default tactical settings.
It is also true though that he inherited a Sunderland team full of mediocrity.
I think even Sir Alex did not expect how little he would miss Wes Brown or John O'Shea.
hahaha
