can you touch your toes?
i'm reasonably fit (form a queue ladies) but tried to touch my toes yesterday and couldn't get anywhere near close

i remember being forced to do "gymnastics" at school, which for 99% of the boys meant doing forward rolls and hurling ourselves into crash mats but the same percentage of the girls seemed able to do pretty impressive stuff like round-off's etc

I can only touch them after a bikram yoga class but other than that I'm horrendously inflexible.
what about after other types of yoga?
probably not as effectroive short term as bikram
THe intense heat enables the hamstrongs and spine to open up in a way that yoga at room temperature doesnt.
(of course, there is a school of thought which holds this to be stupidly dangerous, because you are tricking the muiscle into stretching beyond it's learned capabilities. I've found so long as it's not especially forced, it's fine.)

Stretch your hamstrings every day and after a while it will be easier.

It's nothing to do with fitness
I run and do yoga, slim (GSOH blah blah) but have never ever been able to touch my toes, not even as a kid. My Dad can't, my brother couldn't, my Mum can. Girl at my yoga class can't. I'm really unflexible, can barely touch past my knees, my hamstrings feel like they'll snap and my lower back yells "quit it fool". I'm hoping continued yoga and stretching will get me closer to the golden toes.
