Sheffield recommendations
I'm heading up to Sheffield for Pulp, and I haven't been there for about 10 years or so. Can anyone recommend decent bars/pubs (we're there for two nights) or restaurants (nothing fancy, say around £50 per head).
Any advice would be massively appreciated!

Nothing fancy? £50 per head?
Fully recommend The Great Gatsby on Division ST. If you're there tomorrow I'd advise going to see Temples there. Head over to the Ecclesall Road area and you'll have plenty of variety in restaurant terms.
Ta!
Division Street is the area in town with numerous good bars and pubs
If you head up towards Devonshire Green then on Div Street you've got Bungalow and Bears, The Old House, The Forum, The Great Gatsby, The Washington, Dev Cat, and 'proper' pubs nearby like The Bath Hotel, The Red Deer. Restaurants... depends what you're after but around the Cathedral there are some posher places like Wig and Pen, and Cubanas is a good Cuban tapas place. Leopold Square has several chains (Strada, Waga) but also Aagrah curry house which is good. Wick at Both Ends is my favourite pub/bar and it also does a reasonable menu. Ecclesall Road is a good suggestion because it has good bars and resturants too.
Sheffield's really nice. I really like it.
Last time I went though, I was having a drink in the pub in the train station and there was a man standing talking to himself right across from us and at the table next to us some lad was showing off his verrucas to his pals. I don't know if this is reflective of the city as a whole.
*I was having a drink in the pub in the train station*
This is never a good idea in any city.
yeah that's true
this pub's quite nice though, for a train station though isn't it
I've no idea, I've never been in
because it's a pub in a train station.
that's totally fine
the Sheffield Tap is fantastic
that behaviour isn't really reflective of the Tap or the pubs in Sheffield that I've been to.
it was probably the sheffield tap though?
which is fantastic
yeah it was
thanks btw
i feel vindicated
np
anywhere with weihenstephaner on tap can't be bad. on the pricey side for sheffield, though.
Can people stop having Pulp tickets, please?
Thanks.
the fat cat is probably my favourite pub
great ales + a nice beer garden
what food do you like?
i don't think i've ever been somewhere that costs £50 a head tbh
Down in Kelham Island
is great for a pub crawl without heading into town. The Shakespeare, Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern, Fagans and Riverside are a great set of pubs. Best in the summer though.
jordan took his girlfriend out to a nice place, you should ask him
i recently stumbled upon that iranian restaurant (unless there's another on the same road)
it actually looks really nice. i definitely would have put out
we need a thread to see how that relationship is blossoming
This is great, thanks!
