RETROSPECTACULAR, 1987 (Zonino-esque DiSers mega event)

Remember Zonino? This is a bit like Zonino. Onionz. Or something. It's on Saturday December 15th at The Windmill in Brixton. You're coming, right?

TRANSFERS OUT - Drunk bamos in a pink jumper / ropey UK indie bands.
TRANSFERS IN - Drunk dan_thw in swimming shorts / members of ropey UK indie bands forming cover bands to play classic indie albums.

Same DJs - the awesome team of joeymahone and nice_squirrel tearing up the dancefloor with the hits of 1987.
Same crowd - a load of DiSers having fun and some other people who don't use the internet as much also having fun.

We're celebrating the alternative classics of 1987. SISTER by SONIC YOUTH being played in full by a Manchester supergroup. DOCUMENT by REM in full. YOU'RE LIVING ALL OVER ME by DINOSAUR JR and THE PURPLE TAPE by PIXIES almost in full. Also sets of songs by THE REPLACEMENTS, THE SMITHS, GUIDED BY VOICES, HUSKER DU and the obligatory live karaoke set, this time of BAD by MICHAEL JACKSON.

  Some ideas:
  
  - Get on the train in a fat controller suit.
  - Get some roller skates and hang on to the back of a car.
  - Borrow a car. Remove the flux capacitor. Call the AA and say "oh shit I've broken down, I live at The Windmill in Brixton, you'll have to tow me back there". Free journey.

well, this was great fun

thanks for dancing everyone. We ran out of songs exclusively from 1987 at 3.10am (save for a few special ones at the end) but thankfully we had enough songs from earlier in the 80s to keep us going until 4am! This was definitely the most people we've had left partying until the end, well done.

This was lots of fun and I feel terrible now.

Thanks to everyone who did all the organising and playing and stuff.

I accidentally left my mate's suitcase with £300 worth of guitar pedals on the 432 bus yesterday. Whoops.

Where did the glitter come from? My memory towards the end is a little hazy.
