Going up for pulp. Any tips on good places for food near the arena/places to visit/drink places?
it's really nice
so I probably didn't like it as much as I thought I did
Ate at the wick at both ends which was really nice.
So you're best off having some food in the centre and getting a tram out as all the eateries nearby are chain restaurants (unless you’re into that, obvs).
Decent places in the centre near the tram stops: the Wick at Both Ends (gastropubby type stuff), Aspalace (Turkish), the Harley (awesome burgers) or Hui Wei (Chinese) all on West Street, or The Common Room (American style humungo-portions), Bungalows and Bears (more burgers and stuff), the Old House (more gastro-pubby type stuff) down on Division street, which is one over from West Street.
I’d normally heartily recommend The Wick at Both Ends but they’ve just changed the menu and I haven’t in there for a while. I hear it’s still pretty good though.
For drinking on the tramlines The Old House, The Harley and the Wick are pretty great. There is a decent enough pub directly across the road from the arena too, though I’m drawing a blank as to what it’s called.
If you're round that way go to The Washington.
I'm thinking of convenience really.
I don't trust The Harley. It was a dump for most of the time I was living in Sheffield, it only started going 'indie' just before I left.
Never went in pre-'indie' days tbh. But I've seen some great gigs there over the past couple of years and had some good food. The booze selection isn't spectacular but it does the job.
Lovely afternoon, it was
Heading up tomorrow early doors and staying at the Mercure which is near the town hall.
From the other thread I think I'll go to Bungalows and Bears for Friday night dinner/drinks/whatever.
I'm quite tempted to visit the Magna science adventure center on Saturday daytime, can someone confirm that as a 26 year old man I will a) enjoy it and b) not be viewed as some child catcher.
and check out 'Dronfield'. Mark Bright and Michelle Gayle once thought about living there I seem to remember.
Not sure why you'd want to tbh
so do NOT go there.
Noted. Any board approved establishments near the town hall?
hate the name, but b&b should be alright, think it's run by the same people that run nation of shopkeepers in Leeds, and they do some goooooooooood burgers, and have a nice selection of beers.
