Who's having haggis for their dinner then?
I'm so SO homesick. Cheer me up with Scottish chat please.
I'm going to celebrate by having a can of Tennents Super then trying to poke an English girl.
I DEMAND that you keep me updated by text at least hourly.
I don't have your number.
It's SHITE being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete assholes. It's a SHITE state of affairs to be in, PO, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any fucking difference!
I do love you so.
I think I might just come home, actually. I'm fed up of wangland.
milder than london just now 'n aww
buckfast and milk.
What? Mixed together?
I drank some buckfast last friday night. I might get some later and try this with milk thingy.
but it's not right
Good old wreck the hoose juice.
with this idea in the back of my mind now
Surprisingly, it tastes an awful lot like chocolate milk.
How does that work?
It's gone fairly downhill for a while, can't decide if that's because the guitarist of my band works there or not
you raise a fair point.
Last time I was there, I was with my boyfriend craigfoley.
Certainly for a few pints anyway.
The only problem is it closes at 12pm.
Has anybody been in Broadcast yet? New boozer next door to Sleazies. It's run by the mob behind the Captains Rest allegedly.
it's fine. bit bland though.
I miss the rest.
...Was a great pub.
There was always a great atmosphere upstairs. They pulled a decent pint, play good music and had decent food.
The performance space could be incredibly frustrating though. When it was sold out, it was just unworkable unless you'd been there for hours to get to the front and didn't want a pint/pee.
I remember being right down the front for Japandroids a few years ago, that was excellent.
I was at that japandroids show, and I still don't get them
I've been to the bar but not the venue yet. Bar is nice and cheaper than sleazies!
they do tacos during the day now!
... fairer, greener and more successful place.
Ok. It's a fucking lovely crisp day today. Seeing the Raveonettes tonight at Òran Mór. Going for a walk up Conic Hill tomorrow, followed by hearty fodder in the Oak Tree Inn, at Balmaha. COME HOME.
Stuff is happening and I need to go back. STUFF.
Everyone on the news and stuff is just using today as an excuse to spout pish about the independence referendum (from both sides). Don't think I can handle two more years of this.
WHY IS IT HERE?
I'm heading home to the Highlands today so pretty happy. Haggis neeps & tatties for tea.
I'm so jealous. Where in the highlands? might go home tonight actually. It's my jewish wedding tmw (and I've been excited about it) but Id really like to see my family and my dogs. And all of the haggises, obviously
It's the Highland derby (football) tomorrow morning in Dingwall. Can't wait.
Used to live out west so here is a picture of the road to Applecross for you:
She's going up this weekend for her mum's birthday! It would be really cool if you bumped into her in inverness. It is a small place so this must happen. They have a puppy which is an italian spinnoni <3
That picture just made me tearful (in a good way) :D
Just googled the dog, it dosen't look Italian. Wikipedia did say this though: 'In part due to its long beard and lip folds, the Spinone can have a tendency to slobber' Nice.
going to have to be a haggis supper tonight
As always it was a very pleasant cinema experience with nae neds or plebs spoiling it for everyone else.
Its also very cold in Glasgow today although its a gorgeous day and would be great to our for a big walk up the hills.
Tomorrow night i will be ducking and a diving in such establishments as King Tuts (willy mason gig), sleazys, chinaskis and maybe sleazys again, or maybe the berkeley suite.
I may even venture into town tomorrow for some christmas shopping but that may be pushing it! :)
Because I've heard that EXACT itinerary fomr a few of them :D
OK/. I have just decided what I'm goig to do. I'm going to hand in my notice at work, travel for 3 months and at teh end, come back to Glasgow and sttle there. DONE. I am so scared!
That sounds like a plan Oeuf. Any ideas where you're gonna go travellin?
I guess that's a separate thread!
Probably SE Asia or south america.
nice. (no idea if it'll have more legroom)
I'm losing my job because of it
I'm only on a 6 month contract, but they'd have kept me on if they hadn't of got funding for this!
so the cafes a goner?
dunno what will happen to the kitchen mind!
So how many folk are they hoping to seat in the new screen?
probably served you
but i don't think i will have it. i have sausages that are going out of date.
I'll just cook them for ages, they'll be fine.
I'm marking St Andrew's Day by 'improving' the employment chances of West Lothian's yoot.
On behalf of the weans of scotland, I say CHEERS BIG MON.
AND YOURE NOT TAKING HIM AWAY FROM ME
He's mine. <3
When I moved up, I assumed it'd be exactly the same as Newcastle but with less glamour, less vegetables and more hated of the English.
As it stands, I actually really like living in Scotland. Wor lass has a proper job in Glasgow now and my job looks like it'll still exist next year so we're probably moving there.
Dagless: For the first time ever I saw the Scotch in their natural habitat, and it weren't pretty. I'd seen them huddling in stations before, being loud but… this time I was surrounded. Everywhere I went it felt like they were watching me; fish-white flesh puckered by the Highland breeze; tight eyes peering out for fresh meat; screechy, booze-soaked voices hollering out for a taxi to take 'em halfway up the road to the next all-night watering hole. A shatter of glass; a round of applause; a sixteen-year-old mother of three vomiting in an open sewer, bairns looking on, chewing on potato cakes. I ain’t never going back… not never.
Sanchez: My aunt lives in Scotland; she says it's quite nice.
Dagless: Well, she's wrong.
4. The food
1. The Highlands and Islands
It's a square sausage.
fucking hell. I'd place the Falkirk wheel on my list.
1. Irn Bru
2. Square sausage/tattie scones
followed by a pint in Brew Dog. Does this count as celebrating St. Andrews Day?
really want to. Doubt my body could withstand 15 pints though.
this person didn't get back on the subway between the pot still and stereo.
don't mind if I do
Confession: I've never been to Scotland.
(I've never been to Wales, dude!)
We need to sort it out.
and no it's not GU. *fake pride!*
my band are playing art school on sunday, come yeah?
I AM going to smash it.
I'm going to be in bed with a hot water bottle and a litre of cranberry juice. Fuck's sake.
maybe you could make a hot toddy?
It'll depend what typr of antibiotic they give me. Argh, I have the shivers. Yuck. NO cavorting around kings cross in a minikilt for me tonight :(
it really is the end of the world :(
But I have been drinking Barr's Red Kola and listening to Malcolm Middleton all affy. I might run round to the Blue Lagoon for a haggis supper. Though I cannae be doin' with this West Coast 'salt and vinegar' nonsense. It's salt and SAUCE. CUNTS.
I'm also supplying a bottle of Buckie for dinner with an international group of Chinese, Japanese, German and Americans next week. I'm not much of a conniseur, does anyone have a recommendation on which number is most suitable?
using an empty glass Bru bottle as container. 50% daddies sauce, 50% malt vinegar. It's not too bad.
Sauce 'n' vinegar th'gether, salt on top, ken? A'body loves a bit o' sauce!
my american-with-scottish-heritage friend is coming to visit for the first time and she is SO EXCITED. got a good glasgow itinerary lined up, but people who ken edinburgh well: tell me unmissable eating and drinking places i should take her (my edinburgh knowledge is shameful, normally end up in a spoons when i'm there)(though obviously i will also be introducing her to spoons as it is a magnificent institution)
still so sad that bruadar is gone :(
