I thought it was pretty ace, my job of sorts was working in a cafe for kids who generally felt a bit left out by the the occasionally over enthusiastic main events. It generally consisted of games of uno, murder and go fish. Not to mention endless cups of hot chocolate.
We also often walked round the site in pairs, I guess as a sort of mobile pastoral support unit and on one of them I spent my time trekking around the site with an actual monk talking about Kazuo Ishiguro and James Lovelock.
Some of the more overtly christian (I'd actually say pentecostal) stuff made me a little uncomfortable, I guess I'd describe my own religious beliefs in slightly different terms to most of the attendees but all in all, wasn't bad at all.
still am 10 years later.
It's been going on for nigh on 20 years - I went to it as a student and years later as a youth leader and each time people get a lot out of it and there's an exciting worshipful vibe going on. I'm too old and tired for it now though...
First time it was just me and two mates, I was 16, we just sat around the skate park listening to the THPS2 soundtrack, cooked epic quantities of stew on our stove, and saw bands in the evening. I loved it. Second time, one of those guys wasn't there and I was with a larger bunch of people who I got on with ok but wasn't quite the same.
I'd feel bad to post some smarmy, internet atheist comment now.
Aaaand I think I'll refrain from it.

You know what's worse though? Speaking in tongues. Just fuck off, yeah? ARGH
