Tell me about zoo.
Or, maybe it was, but that bit was closed. Can't remember. Gutted either way.
had a polar bear and everything
I love edinburgh zoo though. SO many happy memories <3
<3 indeed PO <3 indeed.
especially Port Lympne. I really can't wait to take my niece and nephew there next year.
While not really Zoo, Monkey World is great too. As is Long leat.
Yeah I like Monkeys.
If I'm allowed that. As a child watching the baboons rip off your wing mirrors and windscreen wipers nothing could beat it.
Edinburgh is good too but they need to destinkify those penguins. The London lot don't smell like that.
is really spacious and nice.
last zoo I visited was Barcelona. some chimp chucked some shit at me. that was OK, but the conditions were pretty poor. alligators in an inch of water, pumas just kicking about on concrete - never gonna zoo it again after that experience. HORRIBLE
cruel, cruel places. fuck that shit.
I'll either see animals in the wild or on the telly. that's my policy on all things zoo. fuck that shit
It seemed fairly standard though in terms of crap conditions. The park that Barcelona zoo is in is nice though, had a great day wandering round there
Spent the whole day there and saw them fed the lions and stuff. It was cool.
not been to many others though, it wins by default
except the animals aren't skeletons, that's the only difference
without a doubt. 10x better than London zoo.
and there was hardly anyone else there, it was brilliant.
Did you go in the little enclosure thing with the monkeys with TINY faces? They were good.
We also fed an elephant.
(could be a subthread - which zoo animals are the most entertaining).
Also saw the lions being fed which was cool.
but I am biased as I'm from there. It is great though and its conservation work is amongst the best in the world
It is a bit out of the way but we were around those parts anyway. We have been to Bristol Zoo many times which is all showy and busy and has penguins, Gorillas and Lions etc. This place however is quite small and homely, we even parked directly outside the front door. They have some impressive animals like a Leopard but on the whole it is cute small animals that you can even pet and get a good peek of. I think I prefer the small crappy ones to the big flashy ones for some reason.
where they basically just put these crocs in massive piles in these pretty small enclosures. Plus they had dancing bears and monkeys in these tiny cages. It was really grim
Could also post this in the shitholes I vow never to visit again thread - about six pissed-off looking parrots in cages.
(which were awesome) but i do remember cages with crocs and it being horrible
It wasn't in proper jungley Borneo, it was in Sarawak; near Miri
the one i'm thinking was just outside Kuching. the Orangutan's were awesome, and had the freedom of the forest. Must have been a different place.
Did you go to the Niah caves near Miri? bloody awesome
It had Knut, man.
It was a slow loris wasn't it?
Barcelona, Chester and Dudley.
Dudley Zoo is shite.
The other two were alright I suppose.
Adopted a red panda =^.^=
hiding at the top of the fucking tree every time I go there
been three times this year, once they were bumbling about on the ground.
also MEERKAT FEEDING TIME EEEEEEEEEEE
Came here to post Marwell, or Berlin.
But, had a lovely day here recently:
Small family run place with pretty much all rescued animals. They have 30+ huskies there, cheetahs, a camel, reptiles. Brilliant collection of birds of prey who they do demonstrations with. The last show of the day there were three different type of eagle, three storks and a vulture buzzing around the place at the same time, all around and in the audience. Think it was a lot better for being a small place.
Marwell, probs...Longleat, Bristol, London, Fuengirola Bioparc. Love a good zoo. Bristol didn't seem to have much space for the animals though...
No animals other than various dogs.
That was a Shih Tzu
Been to Berlin, Longleat and Edinburgh as well but Miami is in a league of its own.
Pretty sure it's closed now, but even as a visiting five year old, I used to worry about the condition of the animals.
Was pretty ace - red pandas, Indian lions, tapir with babies, giant anteaters, otters, snow leopards, gorillas using tools to eat, monkeys on an island with no actual enclosure so they're just jumping over your head. Oh, and a big Eden Project -style rainforest thing that you just walk through and look out for chameleons, flying foxes, tortoises, lemurs, etc.
Plus a bunch of the usual stuff.
Conditions were mixed.
i went when i was 8. it was amazing
awful, and that London should be ashamed of itself.
Munich's zoo was weird- the gorilla enclosure was right next to a giant fish tank.
Shit, totally going to go and see the Pandas.
Houston Zoo was good. Fucking AFRICAN elephants shit yeah.
deffo no worth the hype though. Edinburgh Zoo's all about the wild dogs, otters and meerkats. Oh, and that bird enclosure where you can walk around with the turkeys and shit.
