I need to pick up some sort of board game for Christmas, any recommendations?
also this came into my life recently and is also amazing
Such an incredible game
don't think it's really the right game for knockabout family Christmas fun either
all done in a little over an hour, including rule explaining. pretty tidy
It's remarkably simple, and not as infuriating as Monopoly or Risk in terms of time it takes to play!
gonna be sweet
had a lot of fun with this over the years
or something which you'll have to read the rules of for about an hour first (but will probably be more fun in the long run).
Some great games I've played this year:
- Arkham Horror
- Race For The Galaxy
- Battlestar Galactica
Some of these are card games, but they're just as good.
- Power Grid
- Red November
- Great Dalmuti
usually takes around 3+ hours to play, depending on how many people you have playing.
Really tempted to get some of the add-on packs after Christmas :)
needs to be something we can just get out and pretty much start playing - previous experience has shown too many rules and setting up hasn't worked too well
you choose a character from the series and then you're dealt a card to be kept secret that tells you if you're a Cylon or not.
The Cylons then have to try to subvert the plans sneakily without giving away their identity. There's lots of secret voting and stuff like that so it leads to loads of finger-pointing and accusing, great fun.
lots of having to manage resources and deal with difficult decisions about losing people, fuel or food to try to reach the end.
it's really good.
my mum has an old, out of date version from the 80s that we still use.
who is Chancellor of the Exchequer?............um
also Creationary (like Pictionary but with Lego; not a game based on the first seven days of the earth's life)
has anyone ever made a joke about "BORED" games? i'm copywriting that
Easy to pick up and play, canny fun.
it's a great game - middle ground between 'proper', serious board games and a family one. Plus you get to play co-operatively against the game which is a bit of a change.
Got the expansion for my birthday, it's really good!
lord of the rings baord game where its a co-op thing, you v the board.
I recommend that too.
I've lost so much time playing this game with friends & family this year. It's easy to pick up, fun for a pretty wide range of ages, and can have up to 12 players if you get Dixit Odyssey rather than the original set.
Roller Coaster Hippo
now, not only do i watch youtube videos of people playing video games, i know watch videos of people playing board games as well
look at these guys for christ sake.
Fun for all the family.
