just a bit of a bad nightmare, really.
not sure it's A THING, per se.
everything has to be classified.
i saw a massive fox today, easily the biggest one i've ever seen. it was so big it couldnt have been a fox, so i'd be happy for it to have it's own name, even though it was still, in essence, a fox.
it'd have to be well over four feet tall before i considered it 'massive'.
it was more of the size in general i.e. width of legs, circumference of head etc.
it was also walking down a central london train station platform with about 50 people on it. this guy wasnt fucking around, he was massive and hard and he knew it.
That's a big fox. Are you it wasn't a rusty train?
have you had it before?
It's fine, though.
but it's definitely different to a nightmare
it was not fine because i wasn't even able to say to myself "oh its only sleep paralysis" and rationalise the whole experience
Or..am I just being successfully trolled?
(ie that it was need bollocks) and then I had it one night. Spooky as fuck. I'm still not sure whether I was awake or lucid or whether it was a compelte dream, but I was glued to the spot and thought I was going to die for a minute. Then I started enjoyting it and then it went away.
So just a bad dream then.
I'm not 100% sure it was a dream! I felt awake. I'm confused.
that you just said 'need bollocks'.
i'm cussing your cooking in another thread.
it looked a bit weird and creepy
entice me into asking about your dream and thus making a mockery of my post above and showing that I'm a man of no principles and a backtracking charlatan. Not on my watch.
it was ok tho, just a dream.
What is it? You just wake up and you can't move?
Jacques will be interested to hear that last night I thought someone was in my bed. So I got up. And turned the light on. And no one was in my bed.
Then one day I was kipping round a mates, I was awake (so I thought), the door opened, my dad walked in, looked at me for a bit, then walked out again. I couldnt say anything, then tried to get up and go after him and couldn't move. Guess it was a dream. Went back to sleep and woke up again and got up normally. Really creeped me out though, had to ring home straight away.
Ok, who's calling for the psychiatrist?
another thing that isn't a thing
I'm not scared by them anymore, I just hate how long it feels like you're paralysed and struggling to breath.
Could have sworn I posted this reply somewhere else just the other day... Anyway, yeah, it's a real thing, not sure it has a name. There's a chemical your brain produces while you sleep that keeps you from thrashing about while dreaming. The theory is that if you don't have enough, you might sleepwalk, etc. but if you have too much or it doesn't clear out soon enough, you aren't able to move right away after waking up.
If this is true, I've never had quite enough as I tend to toss about and sometimes wake up standing in the opposite corner of my room, freaked out that my bed has suddenly become very dangerous and I MUST LEAVE IT NOW.
I should know by now that no one reads the actual post, just the header. Also, I should know that this is a regular thread topic.
S'okay, though - I don't think I'd ever mentioned the Danger Bed before, so that's new.
because we do really talk about it every week (or it might as well be) if you search sleep paralysis + drownedinsound you'd get thousands of hits.
I did read the rest as well and you're right it is to do with a chemical that stops us from walking off mid sleep.
neither whilst awake or whilst dreaming.
AND I saw a fox. Win-win.
then found out there actually was someone pinning me to the bed.
Then realised that actually was a nightmare.
Cool story, eh?
Never sleepwalked either.
Can't see the point.
