Winter/Christmas Markets
THEY'RE HERE.
Shit beer!
Crappy Sausages!
Overly Expensive Rides!
Annoying Children!
But I bloody LOVE a crimbo market.
Are you going to any?

Anyone?
crimbo?
xmas?
essentially just a tax on wannabe middle class people, aren't they?
Exactly
like football tickets for your lot.
No.
They're a tax on wannabe working class people.
ah i've got it the wrong way around
Where are they?
Last Christmas I went to a bunch but was poor so just browsed without buying anything. This year though I don't care and will eat and drink EVERYTHING.
We're gonna go to one in Bath.
Its supposed to be really good.
Thats all I know.
Ah that one is nice, if a bit small.
Very charming though in the square by the cathedral. In fact, I think there are two in Bath this year so that's good.
The Bath christmas markets can be mental
as in "can't move for elderly tourists bussed in" mental. Loads of good stuff there though.
The Bath market is nuts
For 3 weeks the entire city is given over to hoardes of people shuffling trough stall after stall, but not being able to look at anything properly because of all the other people. It does look nice though, and theres plenty of other stuff to see and do here if the crowds are too big.
It is good in the evenings
You can actually park, the stalls are less crowded then you can go to a restaurant / pub and actually be able to get a table.
Should probably just go to Bristol for the Christmas Market.
Bath Spa in winter is pretty amazing though.
I went to the Mcr xmas markets TWO TIMES this weekend
I ate an over priced bratwurst on both occasions. Also drank a mug of mulled wine on both occasions. On the second occasion I ate a pancake with chocolate and banana and a piece of whiskey fudge. I'll keep you up to date with any further developments.
was it proper mulled wine?
I had some last year that tasted like hot medicine and made me want to hurl.
I dunno
It was nice. But please bear in mind that I'll happily drink the £3 bottles from Asda that you stick in the microwave
Not going to Winter Wonderland as that is a pile of cunt.
Might pop along the Southbank at some stage. Might not though.
I went before on a Saturday evening
HORRENDOUS. Left after about half an hour as people kept ramming me with their buggies.
We'll go again this year though. Can't help it. I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
It had the worst food of any market I have been too
apart from the Langos which were unbelievably good... I could go just for them.
It probably didn't help that it was unseasonably warm. 20c doesn't feel Christmassy.
Gluhwein!
Bratwurst!
Churros!
Fucking love a Christmas market.
Churros!
Omg. Almost forgot they existed for a minute.
Fuck you all then
I'm off to winter wonderland.
OH HI REPLIES.
I expressed interest :(
Can't beat em
Make me feel well Xmassy.
Love feeling xmassy.
it's November.
Glad to clear this up for you.
I know!
Time to start getting Xmass'ed up!
(Get my b'day out the way first then it's all systems GO!)
When is your birthday?
tom-goddamn-orrow
You're allowed to feel christmassy as soon as the Christmas lights get turned on in all major cities.
Ta.
Rebuild
the gingerbread house cause forza sat on it
I quite like them
granted they sell overpriced stuff but still that's what Christmas is all about. Will probably go to that one in Hyde Park and maybe mooch along Southbank.
Are these the things you got overly excited at smaller versions of stuff?
If so, I quite like them as they sell bonsai trees and my grandad loves a good bonsai tree
Sam Ibbot's willy?
No thanks
Yes, that is correct.
I like smaller versions of stuff.
Like Sam I...
I've already done that one haven't I?
This is an Image of Christmas Sin

best cat picture i've seen in ages <3
Okay I didn't let that load
but I saw the URL said porn so no thank you.
It is about as pornographic as that statue of the Mermaid with her bosom's out in Copenhagen
Woah!
When did my tinyurl preview feature disable itself?
I like Winter Wonderland
Would obviously never go on the weekend, but it's great for a load of beers after work. I do the Selfridges, Winter Wonderland, Punch bowl trio every year for a last minute panic buy/booze-a-thon.
fix
Legitimate reason
to keep a child up late while we get smashed on Mulled Wine and Rum and eat things I would never entertain. Winter Wonderland was horrific last year because I had a dodgy stomach and it was pissing down. I do prefer the Southbank I think. I've been to one in Strasbourg though and that was amazing
Anyone been to the Brum one yet?
Bit frustrating that they keep the same stalls in the same locations each year, so there's not really any surprise or excitement in it.
Having said that, I will be drinking wheat beer until I a.Fall over, b.Puke, or c.Fall over in my own puke.
Merry Chrimbo everyone!
going very sooon
I'll doubtless end up going to the Manchester one again
it's on my route to work, so it's inevitable.
not as fun for vegetarians, though.
Is it good though?
I'm up this week and might see if scout and the girl from work wanna pop by there.
I have no other market for comparison
it made me feel Xmassy, though, so yeah, ace.
and I think they've put the ice rink up in Spinningfields down the road, so you could go ice skating too. :D
I like it
It's pretty big. Try to avoid the weekends though if you can coz it gets packed out in Albert Square, but the other ones are more bearable, if not as comprehensive
I just want some churros
but i'll settle for a hot apple pie from mcdonalds.
I didn't see any this weekend
but now you've mentioned them I want them MORE THAN ANYTHING
Fuck yeah!
I want to go to Bristol before Christmas to visit a friend and I really want to go to the food festival market they ah
have there while we're there.
Reading have a tiny market on the Riverside, it's pretty rubbish tbh, only about 5 stalls. We did get THE BEST free range onion marmalade pork sausages from one stall a few years ago though, they were amazing but they weren't there last year. BF looked up the website of the farm company we bought them off and it was really crappy and amateurish but all the more charming for it. Loads of pictures of happy pigs rutting around in muddy puddles :)
Christmas isn't for vegetarians
Get your own festival you bloody hippies.
Only joking
You are of course welcome to partake.
nothing more Christmassy than butchering and cooking Nativity animals
you MONSTERS.
not a chance pal
I like the Manchester ones (i'm going there on 8th Dec)
The London ones are a bit lame by comparison.
Are there any good ones in Glasgow? I like going on the big swings in George Square and getting rained on.
There is a good one in Edinburgh
Will be going to the MASSIVE
Birmingham one and will drink wheat beer and eat cheese kaaswurst, deep fried cheese, bowls of mushrooms etc. Will nto partake in rides or buy any tat.
cheese kaaswurst gives the impression it's double cheese
it's not, i just got excited when typing.
so the manchester ones are good??
I always think they're shit.
Walked around a lunchtime and its the same as last year
wont be going.
Does Birmingham have a big food market all year around?
I went to see Brand New in Bham the night before my birthday a few years ago (bestbirthdaypresentever!) and on the morning of my birthday, before catching the train we stopped by this amazing, massive food market, unfortunately we'd eaten breakfast before we discovered it and we didn't have much time before our train but we did a bit of tasting and I bought this lush looking chocolatey, moist cakey thing but then I took it straight to London and left it in my friends fridge and forgot to take it home with me so it got eaten by someone who wasn't me :'(
They seem to put one on every 4-6 weeks
the Samosas are effing excellent!
I need to visit again soon then don't I!
You should come when the Christmas Market is on
It's about 4-5 times the size of that food market (and it has a singing moose head)
I think there's one up at monument at the moment
I like Christmas markets but I'll be avoiding it like the plague.
Has anyone been to the one in Sunderland?
Is it better than everything else in Sunderland?
The Southbank and Hyde Park ones are awful
Just terribly artificial and overpriced. Those awful 'Germanic' wooden pubs selling overpriced cough syrup. Just depressing.
I'm sure there's something in London that can conjure up the christmas spirit, but it's not either of those.
Also, it's mid November.
Used to love them when I lived in Germany...
never been to one in the UK that really compares, though Leeds had a good one about 6/7 years ago.
The one in Bournemouth is pretty rubbish.
The Bournemouth one is awful
Not to be *that guy*
But I went to Berlin in December a few years ago and all the Christmas markets were absolutely boss.
All the ones I've been to in England feel absolutely bobbins by comparison
you twat
Munich and Hamburg are also well worth a look...
apparently Nuremberg has the best one of all, never made it there though. Every German town/city of whatever size would put our markets to shame.
Munich's is great (of course) but
Sub zero temperatures x skinful of gluhwein/weissbier x terrible facilities = fuck
Not got a girlfriend
...YET!!!
