i'll watch it later. does it look good. i'm having a bit of a hankering for playing some old gta games at the moment. i think they've timed it well
Sure I saw that.
The gameplay hasn't aged badly at all; though the PS2 games look muddy as hell these days. Oddly San Andreas more so than the previous pair.
that's the way i remember it
Vice City is apparently coming soon too. I think they've both been rated somewhere in the world for PSN, but no idea when we might see them.
VC... the best?
Nah, tbf IV is pretty bloody excellent.
liked the characters and story, large enough whilst still being able to memorise the map with it's little back alleys and shortcuts, very funny, not too long.
Easily my favourite, but did happen to coincide with me being at uni with lots of time on my hands (and I did win a promo copy and a snazzy hoody at the unions's weekly game competition)
I'm hoping that they will expand on that. Free mode has/had so much potential.
we made our own games up, good times
bah! fuck off
Looks brilliant. Here's hoping you can drive the trains!
I'm not sure they're going to correct any of the problems with the last one, whilst tinkering with things that were perfectly fine.
Can't say I'm particularly excited.
other than the 'I really enjoyed the last one so can't wait for more of the same' mentality, fair enough it looks like it'll be quite good but nothing especially groundbreaking or brilliant.
See also: COD & FIFA every single year
Will discuss this further in the Thurs thread.
and it is pretty much the biggest name in gaming or one of them at least and that = hype.
I really should get round to playing IV more.
Totally agree with the yearly updates of COD and FIFA biut they are aimed at people who buy one game a year, literally. My flatmate buys the new COD every year and that's all he plays.
The most realistic sandboxes. One of the only games where its actually fun to just fuck around in. The new one having...
- 3 playable characters that you can switch between anytime you want. Wanna drive the getaway car? Fine. If not you can switch to the guy doing the robbery, or you can choose to be the guy sniping from across the street. Pretty groundbreaking in terms of not only story but of open world games iyam.
- The world is 5 times bigger than 4. More stuff to do. More vehicles, more people to interact with.
- THe game will focus on committing bank robberies like 'four leaved clover' from GTA IV, which is pretty much the best GTA mission ever. Promising to be more elaborate though. Scoping out banks, deciding to kidnap someone or go in guns blazing, planning getaway routes. How does that not sound good?
- MP where you can do that thing where you one of your 3 mates gets out the car and every time he comes to get back in you accelerate forward a little bit. But seriously a MP which will improve on IV has potential to be incredible.
- Its been like 4 or 5 years since the last game? Why you are comparing it to yearly franchises i have no idea.
I guess what I meant, and why I did bring up the annual franchises, is that it clearly falls into that category of games that people who buy very few games get massively excited about.
I'm not suggesting it won't be good (although let's not forget a lot of people were quite down on IV in the end, I liked it though) but I'm always a bit sad that, when there are loads of really really good games, people get so over-enthusiastic about just 2 or 3 franchises.
In reality this isn't really that much about GTA.
Come on guv!
The redneck guy looks like a complete jackass, meaning he'll be the best character.
I never actually completed 4 because I spent most of the time fucking about at the airport, driving my car off ramps.
III to San Andreas took the piss out of themselves a lot, but the last one got very dull, very quickly.
hope there's a weapon as fun as the exploding shotgun from Ballad of Gay Tony. best thing ever = doing the drug war side missions, ramming the car into the middle of the exchange, and then exploding shotgunning everyone to ABSOLUTE DEATH
and virtually a ghost town once the story was finished. there was nothing to get excited about once the novelty of decent graphics wore off.
ballad of gay tony was a lot better but still, it's obvious what rockstar were doing. it's what ea, ubisoft, etc have been doing for years: setting the bar so low that the next installment of a franchise is bound to look superior.
which is a good sign
fucking loved GTA III and Vice City, San Andreas was good but IV was hellishly dull with all the stupid phonecalls and dicking about with his cousin/girlfriend
thought I was the only one
but aye i gave up about half way through as there was so much peripheral shit you had to do that just wasn't fun
there were 4 or 5 compulsory "dates" etc that you had to do to advance the story, the rest you could completely ignore
but it felt so relentlessly annoying that it made me want to give up, given that i'd loved pretty much all of the GTA titles before this and had played them all through to the end this one just felt a bit joyless in parts.
The mobile on the new one better have a call divert function.
YOU WANT GO SHOOT SOME POOL WITH YRRR COUZZAANNNN ROMMANNNN
Yeah that looks fun, especially for someone who never played 4.
If you can drive out of planes in jeeps then parachute jump whilst fighting, I'm in.
no mention of PC or wii U yet
there are various videos doing the rounds on the tube. the graphics look jaw droppingly good, plus the fighting with the characters swapping guns and stuff looks cool. i really like the bigness as i'm the type of person who can happily spend hours messing around blowing up cars and sniping combine harvester drivers so i can steal them
I actually really enjoyed 4, I think they totally captured the excitement/grim dichotomy of new york.
And as above, Four Leaf Clover was one of the best things ever so if more of the missions are like that, HELL YEAH
BUT is any of that actual gameplay? It looked like it was all cutscenes.
best game series of all time, no doubt.
