Initial reports that Jack Charlton was spotted entering the training ground with chairman Sheikh Yabatti were wide of the mark - it actually turned out to be forzaborza, who rushed straight from a fishing trip to confirm his return to management with KiKers '09. Forzaborza spoke to reporters out of the window of his Lexus to confirm rumours that he is to be assisted by Clarence Seedorf in a player/assitant manager role.

Ronaldinho rated worse than Darren Fletcher
:'(
The "number" rating is more vague this time around as I've already said
Player's real life strengths and weaknesses are all taken into account. So for instance while Ronaldinho probably still has megaskills, he's no doubt put on a few pounds and is taking life a little easier these days. Fletcher has been out for a while but he's coming back into the United first team and I haven't read anything to suggest he won't be back to his old bustling self before long.
Pfft, he's just lead Mineiro to third in the league, with the second most minutes on the pitch in the squad.
If most of his pinpoint passes weren't heading to Jo, he'd probably have a hell of a lot more assists.
http://youtu.be/WEzJ4RkQHLA
Regardless of his rating, it'll be an honour to have him performing his silkyskillz
Yeah sure, he can boss the Brazilian league
But can he take the blistering pace and intensity of the DiS Megaleague 9000 against the world's best? Only time will tell...

They're going fockin' madforrit over at Dynamos where deadonthestairs has taken the reins. Local hero Bez was rumoured to be an outside bet for the role of assistant manager, but at the time of going to press, nobody is quite sure where he is. LLB Sports
Chairman and motor racing tycoon Bernard Ecclescakes used his connections in higher social circles to extend the sporting conglomerate at his club, appointing former rugby man LordLuciusBanter as his new manager. Andy Carroll? What the fuck have I ever done to you Dan_thw?
Just you watch now, I will make him a success. I will.
Wait a minute Phil Neville? At least I have a puntastic team name I suppose.
The allocation of teams was entirely random
In the words of Janet Jackson (I think?) "That's the way life goes..."
As in - I carefully picked ten squads (hibbertgate aside)
then drew names out of a hat (wasn't actually a hat) to see who would get each assembled squad.
You knw your top three picks
what happens when people have picked the same players?
As I said in the PM
that player is then not allocated to anybody and each manager misses out on a free player. I'll announce these soon.
I'm now thinking it would have made sense to pick the best 3 players in the world.
Just so nobody else got them.

At managerless Association Sportive, the gap has finally been filled by silkyskillz11. Chairman Richard Branson, owner of Virgin, said "silkyskillz11 might not have much previous experience, but he's itching to get to work". Silkyskillz11 will be assisted by Ron Atkinson, who is said to be especially looking forward to working with Emile Heskey as he rebuilds his reputation following an unfortunate incident of massive racism.

Almost went for him.
Still on the look out for a top class GK.
MANUEL NEUER
Legia Lurchy2 have signed German giant Manuel Neuer. "Triffic bit of business", said Harry Flashpants.
GIANLUIGI BUFFON
The great greaseball Gianluigi Buffon has signed for ... nobody. Not he, or any other goalkeeper was chosen by any of the managers.
He joins Joe Hart, Pepe Reina, Julio Cesar and Brad Friedel in the forthcoming player auction.
Simply did not occur to me to choose a goalie
oh well.
DANIEL AGGER
Danish bruiser Daniel Agger has signed for OBT Olympique, with manager OvertakenByTractors clearly wanting to add some fellow countrymen to his squad.

89 would be acceptable, please rectify.
I don't tell you how to run the quiz... etc.

That said, the last thing I want to seem like is a whinger
and I like how you're doing this so far, even though some of the player ratings seem a bit off, so let's just leave it. Cheers.
NEVEN SUBOTIC
The supersize Serb has signed for LLB Sports. "I heard he has a big car", said the chairman.
GERARD PIQUE
A flurry of interest from a multitude of managers from the skilful yet supersolid centre back ... failed to materialise. He will join the forthcoming player auction.

Forzaborza pulled off an astonishing defensive double in securing the signatures of Thiago Silva and Javi Martinez. "I'm delighted", he is going to say in about two minutes.

You're a good lad, Dan. A good lad. Despite what everyone else says about ya.

no managers went for any further defenders, meaning not one full back was selected by any manager.

FBs - Dani Alves, Philip Lahm, Gael Clichy, Pablo Armero, Darijo Srna

Brazilian youngster Ganso has joined NikMak's Paddywhackers. The kid is highly rated, despite his lack of profile in Europe. "He always signs for Man City for megabucks in Football Manager", said NikMak.

Hi-
POTENTIAL SELECTION HEADACHE AT ASSOCIATION SPORTIVE SILKYSKILLZ11
Raheem Sterling cut a disconsolate figure today. He thought it was his big chance to shine at his new club, but the double signing of left wingers Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale look to have put pay to his chances of a starting berth. "I'm cunting gutted", said the youngster on his twitter account. No news yet on whether he will face a fine for this outburst...

ROBBEN ME BLIND
Arjen Robben arrived today in the Batmobile to sign for KFC Kitchmo. "What a zinger!", said the chairman.
YOU BASTIADS!
Bastian Schweinsteiger seems to have suffered from the fact none of the managers could spell his name. Arguably the player of last season in dan_thw's title winning Baryen Munich side, the highly talented but seemingly unfancied midfield maestro joins the forthcoming player auction.

ALEXIS ON FIRE
NikMak loves his tricky attackers and he has secured another one in Alexis Sanchez.
NEYYYMAR, EVERYBODY NEEDS GOOD NEYMAR
Well not everybody, but Silkyskillz11 thought he did. But then so did Deadonthestairs. Both managers miss out and the Brazilian wonderkid joins the player auction.
HOW MUCH?!
KFC must have been selling a lot of chicken as they have signed highest paid person in French history, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. "I can't believe I was the only one who bid for him", Kitchmo will probably say in a minute.
You're all idiots
Thank fuck I don't have to play Carroll up front now. I mean.. I have faith in Andy he's a player for the future and can learn a lot from Zlatan.
PLAYED A BIT OF FOOTBALL, FELL IN TO THE UNION ... BARGED OUR WAY TO THE TOILET
Gomez, Mario Gomez that is, has signed for Legia Lurchy2. "Bring It On", said the manager.
TWO MANAGERS BID FOR FALCAO
Then one changed his mind and bid for someone else. Lucky Svenrokk! He completes a pretty impressive three player haul with the dominant striker. Good business sir!
Thanks, other manager!
I'm sure svenrokk can return the favour by offering reasonable prices
if I'm interested in any of their players.
LLORENTE ... LLO-BOUGHT-E!
Worst headline ever. The massive shaggy striker moves to LLB Sports. All three players secured!
HE'S GUAIN NOWHERE!
Forzaborza and Lurchy2 both wanted Gonzalo Higuain. He joins the player auction.
I CAVANI BELIEVE IT!
Middleman and OBT both miss out on the long haired wonder. Sorry guys. You can bid for him in the auction though!
SURELY MORE THAN ONE PERSON BID FOR RONALDO?!?!
Well, yes. But almost inconceivably not more than two. NikMak and Kitchmo are the unlucky ones here. Ronaldo joins what looks to be a tasty auction.
SO THAT MEANS MESSI MUST HAVE SIGNED FOR...
...
...
hang on a minute, what? No-one bid for him? LOL.
Good luck in the auction guys!
haha
forgot about him! stupid
jfc.
I genuinely typed out Messi, Ronaldo & Iniesta, then thought 'Nah, that's daft. Better to get 2 or 3 90ish players than no 98-ish sorts".
I imagine a few people had similar thoughts.
I wouldn't go for Ronaldo in a million years
but I did almost go for Messi and Iniesta.
Full details about the auction / manager trades / budgets this evening
Catch you in a bit!
great work, mate
much better than KiKs abysmal effort
^the great work bit.
Let's play nice
I had a great time playing the KiK game. This is pretty much the same with a couple of personal tweaks, most of the stuff I'm doing here is using his template!
Well done Danno.
Kitchmo got greedy and in the process ruined was turning into a great night for the 'Wackers. Director of Football,Tomasz Radzinski, is said to be despondent having spent the best part of the last 2 days trying to finalize the deal for Portuguese Prince.
Greedy?
So the mind games start already eh? Tsk.
Their was no need to bid on both super Zlatan and Ronnie.
*sour grapes from the 'Wackers camp.
But imagine a front three of The Zlatan, Ronnie and Robben!
I'd have intentionally played a shit defence just so every match was 4-4
did you say we all get £200m?

Some questions regarding this
- Shall we commence the auction straight away or have a period of transfers between managers before starting the auction at the weekend/on monday?
- Shall we do the auction blind again regarding stats? Thought it added to the process last time around. I'm not gonna screw anyone on the ratings, but up to you guys.
- What should the manager budgets be? I initially said £200m but this seems a lot. £100m? £150m? Remember it will be the same for everyone. There might be too many transfers and crazy bids if you get £200m, but then there might not be enough money for many players to be shifted with £100m. Is £150m still too much though?
- Whatever happens, managers will only be able to place bids that amount to less than their total budget.
- I also think it would be a good idea to implement minimum bid amounts for each player. But again, this is up to you guys, what do you think?
just my opinion, but...
1) auction then an open window sounds better to me than vice versa.
2) fine with either, but blind might add to it, yeah.
3) if everyone has the same, yeah, shouldn't make a big difference. £150m seems a fair compromise.
4) there is no answer to this point.
5) i'd be against minimum bids, personally. as 'blind' bidding might add something to the auction, players bidding tactically and getting players for pennies might as well.
Cheers, that all sounds good
If anyone disagrees, speak up as soon as possible.
Yeah I wasn't around for the auctions last time
so can someone fill me in on how they went?
I assumed you'd set a starting price for all players, maybe whatever their value is on FM (just cos that'd probably be quite fair and you wouldn't have to figure out prices yourself)...?
£150m seems like way too much. Just make it £50-75m and if people need more cash they can sell unwanted players...
Oh forget this actually
I had a look at one of last season's auctions and your and fb's suggestions sound good.
^
What happens if you already agree a deal with someone now?
Is that against FA regulations?
Is the spreadsheet / database thing still available for use?
I'm pretty shit with stuff like that but it was highly useful last time so we should definitely use it again. Is it easy for me to sort? Or could someone else take over this responsibility?
I think you'd have to start a new one.
The code behind the table and results pages on the old one used the team names, etc. deadonthestairs did all that last time.
As for the fixtures grid, top scorers, club pages, etc, that was just all manually done. No code there or anything.
Sign up to Google Docs, anyway, if you haven't already.
It'd be easy enough to modify the old Google Docs one.
How many teams are there this time?
Dan, if you have a gmail account PM me your address and I'll invite you to be admin on it if you want.
Cheers!
10 teams. I'll PM you now.
this auction thing's gonna be today, right?
as in pre-tomorrow?
great stuff.
auction BUMP
was hoping I could waste my whole day on this and AQOS..
OK we'll commence the auction today, and it will run until Sunday evening
IMPORTANT!!! READ THESE RULES:-
- Managers will each have a budget of £150m.
- Managers CANNOT bid more than their total budget on players.
- There will be a minimum bid amount of £100k for each player, and managers can only make bids in increments of £100k.
- If the winning bid is tied for any player, a club will be drawn at random to receive the player.
- There will be no transfer window, the season will run for 10 games.
- If we decide to carry on for 20 games, then any leftover money will be wiped and new budgets will be installed, so it is probably in your best interests to attepmt to use your entire budget.
- In addition to this, managers will be able to trade between themselves starting NOW.
- Managers can also ask to sell players back to the league and buy other players that have been sold back, or players left over from this auction (prices will be set following the auction in this case).
- If for whatever reason any manager finds himself at the start of the season with a squad of less than 16 players he will face a 3 point deduction, and be allocated players like Lee Trundle and Royter_Hatfood.
Any questions? If not, commence bidding!
NOTE TO ALL MANAGERS...
I am open to offers for ANY of my players.
For the right price, everyone's available.
PM's welcome.
Players available for the right price:
GK - Robert Green - 80
D R/L/C - Jamie Carragher - 78
DR - Carl Jenkinson - 80
DMC - Jake Livermore - 80
AMC - Juan Roman Riquelme - 81
AM R/L - Victor Moses - 83
FC - Grant Holt - 81
MIDDLEMANSBROUGH looks for defensive reinforcements...
MIDDLEMAN caused a stir today, announcing that his defensive cover 'just isn't good enough'. A top-class centre back could be his main priority, with certain club sources claiming that Giggs' lack of decency and little Mickey Owen's dreadful 'tache could see them moving the other way.
Sergio Ramos, it seems, will not be moving. Despite a lot of interest, MIDDLEMAN explained 'unless we see an incredible offer, it would be crazy to get rid of my only top class defender.'
Rumours that a delusional Patrice Evra is looking for crisis talks following this comment are as yet unconfirmed.
for the record..
GK - Brad Jones - 78
DR - Ryan Shotton - 77
D L/C - Liam Ridgewell - 79
DMC - Christian Grindheim - 82
M L/C - Ryan Giggs - 84
AMC - Michu - 82
AM R/L - Matt Jarvis - 82
are all for sale, for the right price.
FC - Michael Owen - 80
What's the deadline for auction bids?
Sunday evening, to be revealed on Monday
Why are all the fullbacks shit?
I've got cash burning a hole in my pocket and can't see much better than I already have.
A) They aren't, none of the players in anyones first 11 are shit
B) The best right back and left back are in the player auction
This run is going to be more about clever tactics than before, as the teams, in terms of overall talent, are pretty similar.
Oh Dan it was just a bit of hyperbole.
I meant, why can't I buy the exact type of player I want immediately?
Oh right
You can. Just submit a bid of £150m for Lahm or Alves. Then hope you win the coin toss.
I probably needed to say about the tactics anyway - I couldn't believe it when Forza let TBO get away with playing 3-4-3 with Barcelona playing Dani Alves as a centre back and no defensive midfielders and then they still won games.
Also, LLB style 6-3-1 formations are less likely to bear fruit unless the opposition has an equally silly formation. I want this to be real life tactical prowess on show guys!
Woah there, son.
I think you have to bear in mind that a) some people weren't submitting teamsheets, and b) that some people weren't putting much effort into their teamsheets at all.
If, say, Barca (with three at the back) were playing someone who hadn't submitted, they'd win. Likewise, if thery were playing someone who hadn't replaced injured/suspended players, or who simply didn't give any tactics, or just have very good players, odds are, against the best team in the world, they'd lose.
On that subject, what will you be doing about people who don't submit their teams?
* Not even going into the fact that Barca often play three at the back with Alves as one of the three. I've even seen them play two at the back without a defender, or even once, when chasing a game, one at the back. I thought about it, son, don't worry about that!!!1111
Sorry, you could probably tell that I expected to win every game following my tactical essays
I'm just that sort of loveable twat. Got up my nose a bit when teams with mental formations beat me or got a draw. These things happen in real life though - I mean just look at Arsenal. By far the greatest team the world has ever seen should be winning every game but they lose to Norwich.
If people don't submit their teamsheets this time around, their hapless assistant takes over the fixture. If a manager fails to submit two in a row then, well, he's a cock and he's ruining the game for everyone.
I never played 6-3-1
I played 5 at the back yes, but with wing backs to push up and provide the width and 3 in the middle to congest the play, as I was away at the league leaders. It was specifically to counter your teams threats. I'm sorry that you hold a grudge that I manshamed you tactically
:D
I take this bants, well played. Let's call it a draw. A 0-0 draw.
How long will the transfer window remain open after the auction? Or will it shut?
Will remain open, probably until Wednesday
Managers can sell players back to me and bid for leftover players from the auction or players that have been sold back to me from Monday. First games probably the following weekend.
Paddywackers press secretary Paul Peschisolido has met the media
outside les Stad Frontenac to confirm that several clubs have enquired about the possibility of signing left back Ashley Cole.
'Ashley is a top top player and we're not usually in the business of selling world class talent but we've made no secret of the fact that there will be a couple of departures this summer to finance the audacious some say ridiculous record setting bid that we've made to secure the services on Cristiano Ronaldo.'
Alex Bunbury and Craig Forrest are manning the red phones and fax machine in the situation room as we speak.
PM'd you for quotes on a few players.
Need a reply soon or i'll be sending my first-team coaches, Danny Tiatto and Andy Morrison round to kick you in.
fao: dan_thw
Will that gif of Mick McCarthy suffice as my team's tactical instructions?
Depends if you want to go the same way as Wolves :)
Also how do we know the ratings of the players we got from our suggestions?
Under your squad up there ^

yes I saw this
I'm an eejit, carry on
MANAGERS/BITCHES...
Answer your PM's.
I realise you don't want me to steamroll the title, but it's inevitable, so give me your best players now and i won't hurt you.
Also, sign Phil Jones for £40m.
what is the team budget please?
can't find this info..
Yes you can.
It's written above, several times, you just can't be arsed looking.
man...i'm doing all my business on a phone with a cracked screen here
found it now. thanks.
GUYS
Just found out I'm moving house on Sunday.
Tonight I'm out for a mate's birthday and tomorrow I'm with the DiS football lot in Brighton for a match / umlaut_ampersand's wedding reception.
Was gonna sort everything properly on Sunday but now I'll be packing / moving house.
Auction will now take place on Wednesday or Thursday due to me probably being quite hard to contact this weekend.
Apologies!
thank god for that
If managers could self-confirm all ratified transfers so far in this thread that would be great
Was gonna post an update earlier but been busy at work today.
Confirmed trade:
John Terry (OBT Olympique) <---> Petr Cech (Sporting Svenrokk).
Still looking to do a bit of business...
Anyone at all got any 90+ers they're not too insecure to talk about selling/trading?
Dan...
You said earlier that this is going to be a 10-game season. How's that going to work? Surely it should be 18 games, or failing that, 9?
Yeah I assumed he meant 9?
9 regular season games
Then a "cup final" day - 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th, 5th vs 6th, 7th vs 8th, 9th vs 10th. If you guys don't want this to contribute towards the league placings that's ok, we can just have it as five individual trophies. Thoughts on this?
Sounds good.
You should expand on it a bit, though. Whoever's top after nine games wins the title, then there's a challenge cup, like in Super League?
Or maybe run a cup alongside the league, if you can with 10 teams?
Putting Suarez and Tevez in my team was a good move this week
The first changes I've made since I made the team. Because i forgot about it.
:D
Have added squads and transfer details to the database
Thanks to deadonthestairs for setting this up and forzaborza for the template from last season's game.
http://tinyurl.com/d2yk5nd
Please use this document rather than the information above for referring to squads and stuff from now on.
I have made some slight changes to some players positions from above where I had made a couple of mistakes.
Can everyone check their own squad and the transfers to date (access is via the tab bar at the bottom) and make sure I haven't made any mistakes?
I'll sort out the fixtures in due course.
Cheers guys!
I should have Dzeko in my squad...
other than that it looks good! I'm gonna sell some players to the league unless I receive any offers tonight.
wow that was fast.
I learnt the art of German efficiency when managing Bayern Munich to last season's title
Whoops
Dzeko added, sorry about that.
Anyone else got any issues?
What do I have to do and when do I have to do it by?
I've got shitlaods of PMs and I'm pretty drunk and can't really be arsed reading all this.
WHen's the auction deadline? Midnight tonight?
Wednesday!
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4419912#r7163112
you're turning into SkillySkillz, maaaaaaaaaaan.
Easy now.
Just call me a prick and direct me where to go, no need to be nasty.
^
Still looking.
Still open to sensible offers for most of my players.
^ this.
Jimmy Milner, Scott Sinclair and Gary Caldwell
have found it hard integrating into the managers new system. Sensible offers will be considered for players who could turn out to be valuable squad additions.
*Please note Gary Caldwell is in the process of signing for the league and may only be available until the commissioner picks up his messages.
Can we have the auction tomorrow?
There seems to be very little business going down now.
No, sorry
Have set it for Thursday and I'm guessing that's when the less frequent posters are expecting it to be so can't bring it forward at 6:30pm the day before. Plus I moved house late yesterday evening and I'm not set up on the internet in my new place yet.
Auction will be on Thursday. Deadline is midnight on Wednesday to get bids in.
I love how people are trying to flog their crap subs
I already have a perfectly crap selection of crap subs, I dont want any more
have made enquiries about a dozen or so players...
get back to me, guys
bump
ok so I've completed my business with you lot now.
gonna bid 160m for Ronaldo just so you all know.
Damn it! Knew I shouldn't have put all my money on him :-(
Guys - moved house at the weekend and there's a problem with me getting on the internet there
So can only look at work, and was pretty busy yesterday and am today.
If you could make your PMs as succinct and helpful as possible, including all the information I'd need to update the database and stuff, that would be great.
I'll get back to you all when I take lunch in an hour or so. Cheers.
NOW YOU SEEDORF NOW YOU DON'T
News today reached the DiSly Mail that Forzaborza KiKers '09 player/assistant manager Clarence Seedorf has been included in a fire sale to the league.
Chairman Sheikh Yabbati wasted no time in appointing his successor however, and invited us to raise our rose tinted sports goggles to new #2 Edgar Davids. "We wanted a man very similar to Clarence, and, well, we have one", said the controversial Qatari.
I'm glad I swerved this as it is progressing slower than peace talks in the Middles East.
Yeah man so slow, lucky you swerved it!
On the upside, my relationship with your mum is progressing very fast.
Reminder - THE AUCTION IS TOMORROW
The auction results will be revealed tomorrow afternoon.
The deadline is midnight tonight, but I might not be able to confirm people's lists at this time, so as long as you make sure you get it in by tomorrow mid-day it should still be fine. Anything after this will not be accepted.
Here is the list of players...
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4419912#r7158092
REMEMBER you can only bid up to the limit of your budget across all your bids, and only bid in increments of £100,000. All manager budgets are displayed on the transfers page of the database - http://tinyurl.com/d2yk5nd
OK all bids in, thanks guys
(I'm assuming the bids Silkyskillz11 made ages ago are the ones he still wants to use for this - please let me know some new ones NOW if not!).
Auction results will be revealed this afternoon before home time.
before home time?
<checks watch>
Like, I'll do it before the 9-5ers go home
alright, mate...
keep yer hair on.
IT'S QUARTER PAST THREE NOW MAN
