What's happening today?
> gloss my skirting boards?*
> tidy the garden?
> bum around and watch daytime TV while posting on DiS?
> get off the sofa and go see Skyfall?
*not a euphemism, although....
then when drying do another option
without the glossing
Nothing like a cinema trip when there's a chill in the air and everyone is at work or school.
what a fill-um.
Is it true a lot of it is shot in scotland?
Some beautiful Highland scenery. I need to visit The Highlands again - it's been 30 years!
Relishing the fact I only live a 2 minute walk from where I work.
The Breakfast of Champions.
took me about 35 minutes which is about how long it used to take me to drive to my old office. I'm very pleased about this. it means that on a good day i get to walk 4.8 miles to and from work and 2.8 miles to an from Morrisons on my lunch, resulting in a total daily weekday walking of 7.6 miles, which i think is a good amount of walking to be doing. Hopefully i might actually lose some weight for once, which is something that concerns me a lot.
Do it - as long as the weather is OK and time allows, walking is great. When I am working in London I get off the tube a stop or two early. Surprising the things you see that you'd miss if you are in a car/bus/train.
i had no idea what you could see it from that hill until today but now i know!
I totally get this.
then to work
then I'm gonna come home and have a nap
then I'm gonna stay up and watch the results come in. pretty excited!
I'm gonna come and beat up some art students to ministry.
to apply to study in america next year and i looked into it and although it's a very remote chance it would be amazing <3
Take it from an old boy - these things get more difficult the older you get.
it would be 2014 actually but still that's the aim for me now. I think.
Thank you! :)
I'd love ot go back to uni but could only justify it if it was oging to lead to something I could do. I fancy becoming a life coach for burnt-out city types. LIke me, basically, because I've been there. But I have no quals.
it would have to be on a scholarship but it would be something really good, i reckon. And something I am actually very interested in studying academically and idk maybe I would end up being a lecturer. Or something. I quite like the idea of researching new media and its relationship with teh world.
If not, HEY SOMEONE SPONSOR ME IM GREAT!
What, like counselling? idk. Just tell them what to do they will listen.
not entirely sure how it went, but it didn't go awfully which is a decent thing in itself. That's it now, no more interviews, so I've either got it or I haven't - should find out in the next few days...
I'll have everything crossed for you x
My boss is 'working from home' today so I'll probably try and avoid doing any actual work. I need to find a laptop, something around £500, any suggestions would be most appreciated.
I'm playing this next week in Brighton. It's free. 6 bands + 1 DJ. Who's going to come?
Oh my FUCKING GOD. He is my facebook friend! You can't go posting stuff about dead legs, both of you. And I can't delete it now because he has seen it, as has the new one (who might now be the old one.) Oh well. Another day, another dead leg.
Today I plan on keeping my head down (so to speak) and working hard. I might need ot go up to nottingham in the chopper again and I have a cough and an ear infecton and I'd really rather not.
Why not do it on nay facebook wall so my mum can see it too. WEEP.
there's a world of difference between DiS and FB, where you KNOW friends and family are. don't be a dick geoff. Also, I'm only faux outraged. You should know me by know.
Apologies if my tone was off but I really wasn't trying to be a dick! I knew you were faux outraged - I, in kind, was only being faux sanctimonious in return. But apologies all the same, it was only a joke...
Mornin PO :)
by posting on FB about how I woke up with a dead hand and I whacked it a few times with a hairbrush and then the dryer ands it was fine. Sore, but fine. And they BOTH posted OH, IS THIS FROM THE SAME THING YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT YESTERDAY WHICH GAVE YOU THE DEAD LEG. OHOHOHOOOO.
Dead leg guy is my FB friend. He has seen it. He thinks it's hilarious. However new guy has also seen it and has texted me making a smutty joke about what to do with a dead hand. But also with a sdegree of puzzlement as to what gave mea dead leg. Am I going ot have to tell him? I can't talk my way out of this one, can i?
Sounds to me like they both want you. Enjoy!
Wang man has got me a pug tshirt. New guy wants me to go to an art thing with his parents this weekend.
Woah, slow down please.
<aybe I need someone new altogether.
He'll forget all about it.
because cat_race had piled in and it was going to go off the scale any minute.
Lesoon learned (probably not, but hey ho.)
I'll be more careful in future.
You had no reason tyo think they would be my facebook friends. But my mother, jeez, I had to get it down before my mum saw. She thinks I'm still a virge.
last night my puppy was pretty scared of fireworks. he's a gundog, so i'm not sure why.
despite being from a working farm. If he's not been raised amongst bangy noises as the norm, he's going to be scared, and you got him as a littele puppy, yes? A loud movie on TV, maybe even a little sedative forom the vet if he's unduly distressed.
i think he was just confused as to where the noises were coming from. i yell and scream at him all the time for kicks, so he's used to loud noises. he slept through the Avengers last week.
the biggest surprise he got last night though was that he figured out that by sitting on the bed in the second bedroom he can watch people getting off the train at the train station, and that kept him rapt for a while. :D
yeah, from 8 weeks. his first venture out into the rain was the funniest thing i've ever seen. he was so confused at what was happening. can't wait for him to encounter snow! :D
If i don't get a Frank xmas card I will be most sad.
My dog wasn't scared and she's a GIRL. I think you should tell this to Frank and it might make him man up.
My dad got some pheasants, skinned them, and gave Suzy the wings to play with. She loved them...but then she started choking on a feather and I had to stick my hand down her throat.
You've gone all Downton Abbey on me.
He fucking avoids puddles in the street. Though throwing him into the river at the weekend might've solved that problem.
haha. What a little scaredy cat! Luckily my parents talk my dog walking with about 8 other dogs ever weekend, and the dogs all run up and jump in the lake. So she does it too.
I got a dog with my ex only a month or two before bonfire night so we just took her for a walk when the fireworks were going off and tried not to make a big deal of it. When she did notice a big bang or whatever and reacted we'd just go "oh what was that, that was good wasn't it" and she never thought it was a big deal
p.s. are you going to Irrepressibles this Thursday?
en route to Oxford. Plans, if any?
could definitely schedule in time for a drink?
i saw someone who looked quite a bit like you in Bethnal Green this morning. Just fyi.
also, how do you know? have we met? was this on the ill-fated Ramen Sato night?
I was talking to him last night and i think I really like him. Maybe meow is right. Maybe I need to focus on the not-sex parts for a bit and get to know him some more. And then work out what to do.
Or just focus on the new guy.
I'm back to being this close *hold fingers together an inch apart* to joining the convent
For one so young, she can be wise. I have a similar situation going on and thinking objectively can be difficult
I will give you a boring opinion on it.
Saturday night: had a few beers in town, bumped into a former colleague, ended up in bed together... until Sunday night. I won't go into details, but it was pretty good.
I've got an unresolved divorce situation and not looking for a big relationship-type thing, just want some fun. I think she feels the same, just hope it stays that way. Just not sure.
a. go for the pre-emptive strike and stop it before things get too serious?
b. enjoy it while it lasts?
I think by assuming she feels the same way and carrying on with it, could cause issues later on. At least if you're upfront you give her the option of saying: Yes lets keep this fun or No I want a relationship.
And talk to her. Everything is 10x easier if you don't play games just go 'things are a little messy in my life at the moment so I'm just looking for something light and fun...if you feel the same, then thats great! but if you want something more than that, I can't give you that at the moment'
but with a conversation which covers off a too, so that if it gets too hard (FNAR) you both know where you stand. OPf course, you may fall in love and nothing can stop that. In fact, in my experience, the more you try to stop it... just don't try to stop it. Just have some fun.
Agree with your comments too: it's just good to get opinions that validate mine. The good thing is that we are both old enough and experienced enough to have the conversation without it being a major trauma. And I can't do that thing that some blokes do - carry on getting their rocks off and avoid any emotional connection. I'm a nice guy really :)
Even if you think she might not want something serious, its always better to check first as you don't want to get down the line and she's all 'so can I call you my boyfriend now?' and you're like 'no bitch I just fucking u' etc. Could lead to DRAMAZ
PO - you and me, an island somewhere in the South Pacific. I'll do jetski hire, you keep the mud hut looking tidy.
How did I miss that thread?
I missed that too.
I'm off to see Skyfall
carried on with more of the wire last night. really sad episode. poor pres :(
other than that, things are good. sort of want to stay up tonight but it's probably not going to happen. i don't quite care enough to use a holiday day
I would like to step away from my head for a while.
But you've been avoiding me lately. The tea got cold. :(
gf got back. you can go on a date with her if you want though
make sure she brings the glue gun.
you could employ the PO method and start a thread about it?
It wouldn't be very entertaining.
Look, I've already told you, I'm not into that.
You've lead me on.
WHO IS IT??? (mail)
We haven't had a good mail chain in a while. :( Botches to the loo?
I was off yesterday (friend visiting and annual leave to use up) and today came in to find an email from a client saying he's coming in at ten today and could he talk to me - not a generic person, ME, by name - about an issue that we have six months to deal with and normally takes anywhere from 6 to 20+ hours of work to do properly.
From reading the email to him arriving, I have 45 minutes. So obviously I'm posting on DiS.
My boss saved me at the last minute and arranged for the client to come back in at a more sensible time.
Not before having me sweat bullets while trying to make my brain work faster than it's ever worked before, mind.
Tomorrow's another day, kid.
went to a gig at the windmill last night, really smelt of bleach in there
chromatics at heaven tonight, super pumped
Because I'm being paid by Newcastle council. I think I'm busted over not being a graduate, or haven't been a stent for the last 2 years. I need to call them back. Fuuuuuck.
They'll just change your account to a graduate one and you'll lose the sweet, sweet interest-free overdraft.
And I've already got a graduate account. With that I've still got my interest free overdraft for another year.
I can't see how you'd get in trouble, though. The worst that can happen is they start charging you interest on your overdraft.
That I dropped out if uni two years ago and neglected to change my student account.
Just say you thought it would change automatically.
Upstairs seating at the Forum gives a really good view.
I want to buy my friend a cafetiere today so we can drink coffee while watching the results tonight. Where can I get a cheap one?
most large supermarkets
that no ones emptied the dishwasher. I'm the only one in here. So clearly it's probabaly a jab at me.
I've just sat in silence pretending shes not here. Maybe I should just cover my eyes so she can't see me either.
i went to lewes bonfire night last night which was amazing. can't believe i haven't gone before. Wasn't as crazy busy as i was expecting, it was a monday tho. Still pretty mad.
It was only marred by the terrible behavior of people getting the train back to Brighton. A man had to scream "Get off my fucking baby'' when people were trying to push past him and his buggy to get on the train.
And no one stood up to let an old man and lady have their seats.
tonight going to see polica in Brighton. That should be good. Then i'm off for a few days.
this was my idea so don't steal it

Going to faff about on the internet for a bit before going out and meeting a friend for an amazing lunch at the place that only does steak and chips. Also going out for dinner at a place I really like, so all in all this could be the best day of eating of my adult life.
come win big pounds etc
First time I haven't worn gloves and first time I've come off this year. Can't even play xbox cos there's no skin on my palm and no tip to my thumb. Luckily I'm not working this week.
+ Going to Bruges tomorrow for the Newcastle game and then on to Brussels to spend a few days with beer and waffles. Might build a chain mail glove for my hand.
I'm sorry. I hope your hand gets better soon.
It's not infected and no long term damage done, apart from a flat thumb, so just a case of letting it all heal up.
I've lost count of how many fucks I don't give. I've been offered a job in another department and I'm going to mention this. Don't know why; just interested to see what my boss's reaction will be. Probably nonplussed.
I feel a bit rough and have a Spiritualized gig later which I am looking forward to. Nothing a couple of cans of Special Brew won't fix. Have also finally gotten around to ordering Caligula on DVD (fully uncut edition!). Next step: organise an Ancient Roman-themed orgy.
THere's a really interesting/ bizarre exchange going on between me and cronin right now on toast. ON the update I made last night about cheese on toast. It's scintillating, really. (it is. There's a pic of a dead thing).
