Four BILLION dollars
for Star Wars rights basically
no tea for that prick
episode 7 in 2015 seems s bit rushed, but then the decades taken for the prequels didnt exactly help
this could actually work out pretty well, lucas obviously lost the plot but had too much control and was never challenged, at least disney know entertainment, hopefully they wont have any reason to not re release the originals on blu ray too
fair play to the lad
BUT HE HAS NO CHIN
so, at worst. it's just another piece of shite on the pile, at best, the chance to redeem some dignity.
ignore the punctuation errors.
I don't trust the force.
Specifically, the fella from Twilight as Han Solo, him from Transformers as Luke, and that lass who's going out with Bieber as Leia. Make Chewbacca a bit more Jar Jar-y, get Alan Rickman to do the voice of Vader (he can just be CGI), maybe Liam Neeson as the Emperor. Morgan Freeman can be Obi Wan. Job very much done.
We just look and sound alike.
in a terrifying, trampling-on-my-childhood way
they should re-make it with the same actors as they are now.
Darth Vader noooooooo video clip
who are pro the original Star Wars films will have seen these, but in case you haven't THE best case for the prosecution of the 1990s trilogy is contained here. aside from the ridiculous unfunny (but thankfully brief) riffs he makes on being a serial killer these are pretty much amazing
go for it. the prequels are the best ones anyway
and disney did well with marvel too, so might make a decent go of star wars.
Films of those could be brilliant.
criminally underrated computer game
50% of the payment is in cash, 50% in Disney stock
FOUR BILLION DOLLARS
Or maybe restart an indie production company, like Zoetrope.
all 1.6km of it.
Would be a bit vulgar.
If that's true, this is a pretty incredible windfall for good causes.
His $2billion of shares in Disney will make him the second-largest individual Walt Disney shareholder, with a 2.2 percent stake
That means Disney is worth $90 billion - fuck
$90 billion dollars, in less than 100 years, for drawing cartoons
Have you been drinking?
at euro disney/toys r us?
Might as well say Apple have made x billion dollars from making shiny boxes.
It's one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world. Just think it's a bit disingenuous to say that a company which has theme parks, runs TV networks across numerous genres in multiple countries, websites, high street stores and several other types of asset makes $90b in a century for drawing cartoons
you're doing tht thing again were you dont illustrate a point but just post internet links.
do you honestly think that you're post there is telling anyone anything about Disney that they don't already know?
Do you honestly think that my comment was LITERAL ?
blimey o reilly.
because the point, if there is one, is that through understatement in describing their origins it more sharply illustrates what a mighty (evil) forest they have built from such tiny acorns
i think the internet has lost things in translation here.
to be fair.
A solid gold house
if they get in a writer and director who aren't idiots
I'm still holding out for Paul Verhoeven
As mentioned below. Who's with me?
it was irvin kershner
If the new films are great then all well and good. If they're a bit shit everyone can just pretend they're not part of the canon 'cos Lucas didn't make them. And I'm pretty sure Disney have got a better chance than Lucas of doing something decent anyway.
Anyway I'm pinning all my hopes on a Monkey Island revival...
It didn't really hurt the Muppets franchise, that stayed pretty alive and progressive when Disney bought it before Jim Henson died.
Also, George Lucas had already pissed all over the Star Wars legacy much more than Jim Henson ever could have.
He can get back to making a THX1138 sequel now.
seek out the de-specialised editions, like er..my friend did.
Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm and ABC, they're becoming some kind of entertainment behemoth. I hope the money they can invest in these things doesn't cause a bunch of homogenised crap to spill out in the future.
The best thing to to with Star Wars is keep Lucas away from it.
Might be good news. And basically, he already ruined the legacy so much that the only way is up.
Just hope they have a bit of bite to them - But I doubt they will as it's Disney. Couldn't they have given the rights to Paul Verhoeven??!??!?
They are planning on releasing 3 more Star Wars films.
that they will will do a new one every 2 years this morning on Today...(after the next trilogy)
where Luke discovers that Empire are rigging elections and their war on Endor is illegal and the media is lying to him and the Rebel Alliance aren't terrorists.
Ryan Gosling as Luke Skywalker - following the death of his parents, Luke is sold into prostitution. A hollow shell of a man he searches for meaning in this crazy violent world
Method Men as Obi Wankenobi - Used to be a big player but now a low level slinger playing a wider game of looking out for Luke in the Tatoinne ghetto
Harvey Keitel as Han Solo: An alcoholic junkie low life who was once a promising NASPOD driver now is a criminal willing to do anything for the highest bidder. He doesn't care about redemption or politics, he just wants to get rich quick or for someone else to die trying for him
Shia LeBouef as Grand Moff Tarkin and Bruce Willis as Darth Vader
Brian Blessed as Chewbacca
Chris Tucker as C3PO
Oprah as Princess Leia
just to add a bit of pathos
they should use bruce boxleitner more in the new ones, he has good chemistry with spock
