anyone watching this? Game 3 about to start. First 2 have been great. LET'S GO GIANTS.
Game 3 seems to be going the same way as the first two. Tigers looking nervous, Sanchez has had a couple of very poor pitches and Vogelsong looks fairly solid so far despite a rather lengthy first innings. Jackson's fielding error to allow a run in the second was awful.
As a Cincinatti fan I should be cheering on Tigers, but pretty neutral to be honest.
And yet, I find myself rooting for them.
If the Tigers hitters can get on track, it could get interesting. As the Giants couldn't keep up in high scoring duels. But as long as the scores remain low, this could be over in five.
But the Giants have fielded really well to execute those double plays and finish the inning both times.
Miggy's great but he's not getting the support offensively.
The Giants were fantastic last night. No team has EVER overturned a 0-3 deficit in a world series
a win tonight and a return to form from verlander in game 5 and its all to play for back in san francisco
but the fact that it will be going back to the Bay makes it pretty much impossible
But I've just looked up Detroit's road record in 2012 (38-43, 9th best in the American League) and it's pretty poor.
I've got the feeling if they can get past Cain tonight, they'll win game 5 and take it to SF, but even then the odds would still be heavily stacked against them.
doesn't bode well
as good as zito, bumgarner and vogelsong have pitched this world series, the tigers offense has just looked clueless at times. swinging wildly when ahead of the count, going for the home run when a base hit would suffice etc. but for the last 2 games it has been hinging on a fine margin despite the giants perceived dominance. a few defensive errors and the series could have looked alot different.
glad we have scherzer on the mound tonight, but thats gonna count for nothing if the bats don't wake up. the only players who have consistently got on base this postseason have been infante and young. fielder is a shadow of his regular season self...
but detroit surived the 9th
except for way too many fireworks (and on a super foggy night). Apparently thousands of people are marching down in the Mission -- and setting things on fire. GIANTS!!
on fire on Market Street -- I think they took the celebrating a little too far.
AND THAT'S THE WINNING TEAM.
I remember I was in SF last year during the stanley cup final and could see the smoke coming from Vancouver
one, too! Even though the Bruins won, obviously. I was living in Boston when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2007 and while I don't remember fire, buses were knocked over and some poor girl died. Why do people celebrate like that?
I am very happy. 2 in 3 years has spoiled me after never tasting it in my 31 years of fandom before.
