It adds human interest. It seems to be a badge of honour now that people just want the news to be presented as a spreadsheet.

But I think you're being a bit more than fair. They didn't exactly /have/ to use it as their lead image at the top of their home page.
Not massively sure what my exact point is tbh, just that there's a definite sense of "oh, ffs".
Judging the reaction her, I might being under-sensitive, but it does just look like a standard Facebook photo in a slightly low cut top to me.
It's not like that weird Huffington post article where the 15yo topped herself and they posted the article alongside a whole gallery of pictures.
