what do you think about this then?
Gonna give this one about 25 minutes before some social retard says something along the ines of "Ugh! I went to one once, had no choice, it was probably the most depressing night of my life".
I've been twice, maybe three times. I like beer, i like nakey chicks. If drinking that beer and seeing those neeky chicks wasn't as expensive as it is i'd probably have been a lot more often.
always threads about strip clubs. like, seven a week. always.
and something being acceptable in this day and age doesn't necessarily make it right - if you enjoy hanging around with your mates while they're perving over girls with their hands in their pockets, I think you probably need to take a long hard look at yorself. Also, those blokes who constantly bang on about hot chicks are insufferable bores.
i don't really care very much either way but that's a fucking rubbish article you have there. so a guy who goes to strip clubs all the time thinks it's normal to go to strip clubs all the time. good work.
around Old Street. I'm not a fan but have been with them. I've never liked them. They're just dull places for me. It's a bit like page 3; if you've seen one very good looking girl, you've seen them all. They do tend to have the stereotypes; the beered and coked up lads and seedy office workers as well as very pervy looking old men.
I went twice when I lived in Cardiff, once with my girlfriend and a couple of mates and once with a group of mates for my 21st. I had fun both times, but only because of the company - I'd have probably had more fun at a regular pub.
It wasn't so much that I find those places depressing (though I think they generally are) but I did find the format INCREDIBLY BORING. Sure, I like looking at boobies. Looking at them in a bar with your mates while the (probably even more bored) women come up and pester you for money? Bit weird, that.
"If you've seen one very good looking girl, you've seen them all"
Clearly absolute nonsense..good looking girls come in all shapes and sizes innit.
If other people want to go, thats cool. Just not for me.
They'd probably agree with you...
Where I struggle is where those involved are being coerced, whether that be the strippers themselves, or a reluctant punter who is being being dragged along by a baying crowd of stripees.
who wants to go out for some drinks, and then get a boner? it's like teenage boys that will get together to look at porn, how is adding more people to that situation in any way helping things for you?
are you saying you can't look at naked women without getting an erection?
but boner or no boner, you're still getting sexually aroused during a social gathering. seems peculiar, which is my point.
As it was, I ended up in some two-bit shite shower on the outskirts of Worcester city centre after a trip home because we weren't allowed in anywhere else (LADS).
The girls all looked a bit sad, limp and bandaged, and management decided it would be great to kit the place out in tat from old film sets. So what with the patchwork ladies and Charlie Chaplin leering out of the dark everytime the disco ball went round, it was like some mental nightmare scene. Then we got thrown out for not buying ay of their £20 pints.
This is it http://goo.gl/maps/ynstt
Don't find it particularly enjoyable in it's own... most of the places I've been to have been a) Abroad & b) All you can drink.
We used to go in and rib the clients/workers. Which is far more demeaning for everyone than actually going to enjoy yourself, but yeah, we were teenagers & thought we were funny. You grow up.
Honestly, I think strip joints are fine, but I can't understand why anyone would want to do it seriously. Without those immature bants, it would be frightfully boring.
it was incredibly dull + frustrating because you're essentially getting aroused yet you can't do anything about it... what's the point?
she was a bit of a card. Unfortunately, she was also a bit dim and added a load of the offenders she was supervising to Facebook, they found the albums full of photographs of her and made lots of nice A4 colour prints of her hanging upside down in lingerie and stilettos with her tits out, etc
These were then plastered all over the magistrates court, police station, probation offices and so on. She was kicked out (not just for that, she was doing loads of other stuff too). Then she became a prostitute and I'm not sure what she's up to now.
Another triumph for our inept HR/Recruitment branch.
almost every month about strip clubs.
Contentious as it may be, it's really not a central problem in modern life. It is however, indicative of a certain belief people have that we are beyond a need for feminism, or that certain acts are post-sexist.
I personally find the contents of most magazines (be it FHM, Loaded or even the celeb-obssessed mags that appeal to women and men) as far more pernicious and destructive to the standing of women in society.
1) you're a man
2) you're an idiot
3) you perpetuate rape culture
4) you hate everyone. women included.
maybe i saw another post from ages ago where you were angry and thought it was from today
but that was completely unnecessary.
it was 75% fact
quit while you're behind
Not even touching on why being a man bars him from posting an article upon feminism- whatever your opinion of him just fucking ignore him unless you have a reason for him to be banned, in which case come to a mod and state your case. Instead of galloping into a reasonable thread on the old drama llama to roll out what's tantamount to bullying.
really unlikeable too yeah
1) You're a man
you're a very unlikeable chap. this is not cool, man. talk about movies, or something
TURNED ME ONTO MORE STUFF THAN ANY USER ON THIS SITE, HE'S HARMLESS!!!!!1!!!!
you should think about toning this down. it offends people. be cool and stuff.
Hey, maybe I'll post a link to an insightful interview with a leading feminist writer, 'cause no-one will accuse me of being a misogynist after tha-oh...
is that his actual politics don't seem to match up to his conduct
well on the internet at least
the one time i went to s strip club probably was the worst night out i ever had
If I am going to go somewhere I am 100% guaranteed not to get laid I can go......anywhere else, and pay £6 less a pint for the pleasure.
The whole thing is an adult experience in an adult environment - concerns over coercion and employment rights easily transcend the miffling about them not being your cup of tea.
Take-a-break and Cosmo are a more pernicious and destructive force than any legitimately run strip club will ever be.
The Guardian CiF articles work on exactly the same principle as the Daily Mail's right hand column of flesh. Looking forward to doing this exact same thread all over again when their next one gets published.
Namely that many of the girls in strip clubs actually lose or make very little money, but feel the need to perpetuate the 'its just a transaction and a lucrative one at that ...' line because to admit otherwise was to admit you were unattractive, or not attractive enough to make money.
The whole consenting adults thing takes on a slightly grimmer tone when one of the adults is averaging £2.50/ph, no?
The take-a-brak/loaded/cosmo thing is true enough, but to ignore the connections between that and strip clubs completely, well, it seems a bit simplistic.
ive been to them and even in one to one dances, if you get a boner thatd a bit odd.
help me understand this
How is it a bit odd to get an erection when you have an attractive, naked woman dancing in front of you?
what happened to that phrase?
You'll probably die a terrible human being. Swings and roundabouts.
I've noticed you posting these kind of replies to Joe apropos of nothing. Repeatedly. It's a lot creepier than anything he's responsible for.
Four wanks. In about half an hour.
