Decent bacon doesn't need smoking or extra lard. I love back bacon. I like wheb you get the stringy bit of fat caught in your throat. I'm going to make a bacon roll now.

You can cook streaky bacon til its nice and crispy so you can pick it up and dip it in your soft boiled eggs.
Asda extra special bacon is delicious.

There's that cliché of "oh I'd like to be a vegetarian but I can't imagine giving up bacon" I'd miss chicken more, I think.
but I could definitely live without chicken, bland and dry most of the time. I'd only really miss things like roast beef. Sausages beat bacon I reckon, from chorizo and salami to the humble banger.
