Assume it'll hve every arcade classic in there.
For me: Sega Rally. Everytime. Fucking loved that.
sadly, no one else knows/remembers this game, and it's probably long lost to arcade game history by now.
There's about half a dozen up on eBay at the moment, too. Unfortunately, they're all located on another continent and the shipping would probably be more than the cost of the cheapest machine ($US400).
never liked In Time much
love a turtles game. there's a sick part of me that loves the NES one as well
And I actually got a double flawless with fatality, against Sonja. Scorpion's fatality was a bastard because you had to get the distance just right, but this time I pulled it off. I felt like I had just won the earth.
However, I was the only person in the arcade, so there were no witnesses to my triumph. True story.
the classic choice. You know where you stood with that.
Still have a soft spot for original TC, mind.
Not the rip off claw ones, but the ones where you pretty much always win.
we're all friends here.
I spent a silly amount of money on one of those in Brighton a couple of months ago. Won several packets of haribo (the 10p size ones) and handfuls of boiled sweets that I don't even like, I still have them at home. I kept playing because I thought I was about to win a giant bag of sour skittles. It would've been cheaper to just buy them.
or any 2D fighting game
Daytona is still in a few arcades, though most of them have broken steering wheels.
easy to lose far too much money on those.
and if you get them to stay in certain areas you win tokens. that's my favourite, even tho you don't actually win any money back and you need about 12 billion tokens to get anything decent
That's the most recent arcade I was in. They also have a 'guaranteed win' grabber where you can get bundles of extra tokens.
You need a spotter though.
Or Virtua Racing.
In Japan they had 6 player arcade Mario Kart WITH YOUR FACES ON.
They had mario kart with YOUR FACES ON at my local cinema (including an arcade) up until 6 months ago, but it was only two player (two machines only). Very different from the console versions, and you could play as pac-man and ghosts. The wheel had some kind of force-feedback thing as well. Very cool.
He was wearing a shirt that I later realized had the same pattern as my Bank of Scotland debit card.
in the arcade was so fucking ace.
So that then innit.
and at ATP that one with the frog with the tongue and you have to hit the rotating bugs or whatever they are I can't remember.
I MISS ATP :'(
I hope they have that at Camber. If so, I challenge you, Verbal.
I spelled it wrong before.
I love Thwucky Thwuck
Street Fighter 2 (unless 4 was released in the arcade)
Star Wars Arcade (80's version)
Street Fighter II
I loved me a bit of fighting
who paid 2 quid to use both guns
I think I played it with Piece_of_reece at ATP or Sadpunk, not sure
Used to play Virtua Cop and Lethal Enforcers like this, it made the game much easier. Couldn't really do it with the pedal-for-cover shooters without borrowing a barstool, though.
Or Stryder Hiryu.
addams family values
or lethal weapon 2
Grew up in Southend - went to the arcades most weekends. I could even beat Japanese people who came down from that London.
The arcade classic with Royal Rumble and tag challenge modes. The tag mode would see you fight to a match with the Legion of Doom. Random cage matches too. Mr Perfect for me, please.
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Not the crappy Mega Drive version. The 3D version with plenty of power-ups.
WWF Wrestlefest. I always did the Royal Rumble mode and normally picked Ultimate Warrior.
The Moonwalker game was awesome too, haven't played that in such a long time.
It looks really bad. I saw added wrestlers on the current roster. I just want a straight port, damn it!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 4 player cabinet
The Simpsons - 4 player cabinet
X-Men - 4 player cabinet
another 2 that I would play all the time in TMNT and the Simpsons.
I remember that Marge and Lisa were the best to play as, as they had long reach with their weapons. I think I once got as far as the 4th level with one 20p. The days when arcade machines were 20p, not 1 bloody pound!
Aha, just seen Taxi Driver mention it above. He knows his shit. Well done son.
Otherwise, original Marvel Vs Capcom arcade
I remember meeting some Italian teenagers once on holiday who completed Metal Slug in the arcade... genuinely one of the most dramatic things I've ever seen.
Fucking LOVE Metal Slug!
the first time I saw/played that game blew my fucking mind
GAME OVER YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Mat Mania (old school wrestling game)
It's not even cos I'm old and that's what I grew up with. It's the flashing lights and flippers and bumpers--bigFun!
Do enjoy me a good sit-down car race, too.
where you lean the bike to turn.
Where you take a picture of your face and the harder you hit the more the face would bulge. I was never man enough to play.
Also the Addam family rods that vibrated. They really fucked up your hands.
(they had one in the Debenhams in Ipswich. Later that floor had a Games Workshop on it - spent a lot of my childhood on that floor. My not at all wasted childhood.)
Some amazing WWF arcade game I don't know the name of - you could be the Legion of Doom and those two soldier guys and the one with the snake.
and everyone would stand around in awe, and for a few seconds, I felt like I was somebody.
w/ 3 steering wheels @ 10p a go.
a football game called Football Champ? This was an excellent football game, that you normally scored by shooting at the goalie, him parrying the shoot and then scoring off the rebound.
This is it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh3b354YFdQ
Fist of the North Star Fighting Mania
what a game
I loved the hell out of this on my old Amiga, but I never saw it in an arcade. Such a great game.
also Scud Race, any Sega game from the 80s or 90s i suppose
where I played air hockey (probably my arcade game of choice, if it counts) and some motorbike game. Back in the day, my fave arcade game was prob Virtua Soccer 2, though that was probably before I got my first console, which was the N64.
must've got that and Actua Soccer confused.
and then you have to catch the £1 coins as they come out the bottom. My Dad usually made us leave after that. Gotta catch them all!!!. short and sweet
Or Punch Out or Streets of Rage
Cos it was half the price of Time Crisis.
Track and Field
The 2nd Tron game, Discs of Tron (the amazing but rare surround sound environmental version). I occasionally toy with the idea of getting an Xbox 360 just to play this again but I know it won't be the same nearly 30 years later
Star Wars or Empire Strikes Back (everywhere had Star Wars but the latter was a bit harder to find)
Mario Bros (not Super Mario Bros though)
Pole Position / Out Run depending on era
Kung Fu Master
Ghosts n Goblins
Some crappy laserdisc game (usually Dragon's Lair, Space Ace or Super Don Quix-ote but occasionally Firefox, MACH3 or Aston Belt. This was on the rare occasions that the laserdisc games weren't broken, so not very often )
Plus hundreds more. The 12 year old me wasted his school lunch money on the arcade games in the bus station cafe on a daily basis.
