The latter for me.
Ignorance is bliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiss
Lots of sadness or angst is caused by self-awareness and intelligence. I owuld love to be quite blissfully dim. I do a good impression of it most of the time and I find it works well for me. Something also about blonde hair and big mamms.
then loads of spare time for read book and do math
makes it my favourite post of the day.
then load of spare time for read book and do mathS
Sorry, but it's the correct answer. No one wants to spend their whole life struggling with money. I've been around the latter option my whole life and it's a horrible brutal bane for everyone concerned.
Being stupid isn't like being a genius struggling to articulate like you've had a stroke. It's just a matter of not being as clever as you think you are. Imagine that, eh?
Well, it was a dig at all of us really. I was being self deprecating on behalf of everyone.
It's what intelligent people do to make idiots feel at ease when we tell them to do stuff.
loads of rich and thick people about isn't there
Aren't stupid people less likely to suffer from depression? I reckon rich and stupid people must be deliriously happy all the time
it seems a fairly ridiculous concept to me idk. stupid people might be less likely to be in a position to identify depression and get help...
and personal experience of some pretty dumb people who are extremely depressed. it's like that "arabs don't grieve over their kids the same" idea you see in the military a lot.
if mental illness is based on experiences and brain makeup it doesn't make any sense to me to believe it if there's no evidence.
It affects the experiences they have *and* the way they interpret them. I think to dismiss the possibility of a link is to over-simplify depression. Less intelligent people may get depressed too, but that doesn't imply intelligence can't have an impact.
i wasn't trying to suggest there's no link between intelligence and depression just that its not self-evident that smarter people would be more pre-disposed towards it. it could well be the opposite. you never hear that though, i've heard smyth2's view a lottt and it always feels gross to me when people dehumanize stupid folk a bit by trying to suggest they cant possibly experience the same range of emotion as cleverclogs, and with seemingly absolutely no evidence to back it up.
A fool and his money are easily parted
Whereas intelligent people can put up obstacles because they've figured out exactly why something can't be done.
And boy, do I mean in my experience.
I've met people that lead quite a simple existence and it everything is so easy for them not to worry about the wider picture. The more you know, the more problems you know about. I think I've just paraphrased a cliche, but there's a good reason why it's a cliche.
but swap stupid for laser beam eyes. I'll be rich and be able to shoot laser beams at people.
ignorance is bliss etc
you'd be so carefree
If you're intelligent you spend half the time getting angry at how stupid everyone else is (in my experience anyway).
I've got by so far being an idiot so I'd quite like to be rich.
Art first, cash second. No bullshit. Obviously I would prefer to be rich and stupid than destitute, penniless and completely depressed, but 'scrape by' doesn't necessarily mean 'desperate', so long as there's a guaranteed scrape
