I think my top three might be: Hunt, Osbourne, and call-me-Dave in third.
Makes me feel like a proper butt-hurt bedwetter.
Apparently he's one of the most well-liked people across parties in Westminster. Go figure.
amount of cakes and biscuits on his birthday.
He's genuinely really nice.
The man is just too polite.
They get caught in the headlights a bit, they did a fluff piece about what a badass superclever political operator Osborne is not so long ago.
P O B
Think she'd be in the top 5, along with Osborne, Gove, May and Cameron. As much as it pains me to say, can we have Hunt back as Culture Secretary please?
The rest of them are just jokes now. Can't see Osborne lasting long, there's a 'lame duck' feel around most of them now. But Hunt, fuck me, at least settle in to the new role that you should never have got anywhere near before you start trying to ramp up the dickhead policies.
to Theresa May.
(ho ho ho)
She wasn't all bad
Remember Scream 2??
Just such a clueless dickhead.
At least the others are utter bastards but know it.
He's the Tory that I hate most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news
Hunt is clueless but Gove is evil.
First in PPE from Oxford. Fluent in Japanese. Set up HotCourses yada yada yada.
Keep on truckin', internet warrior.
I just hate it when people with no idea try to suggest that other people have no idea when they're in no position to make that judgement call.
Like when Tom Watson said that Rupert Mudoch wasn't fit to run a multi-national corporation.
However this is exactly what him, you and yours want so you can't really label him as stupid.
My mind boggles as to why he was moved to Health, as I don’t think he has the background or the knowledge to do it justice, but it’s clear that he isn’t a complete idiot.
If you discount the BSkyB bid fiasco, his time as Culture Secretary wasn’t actually a disaster, like many people make it out to be- especially given the unprecedented budget cuts.
not a "fucking up and wrecking his department" disaster.
Like I said, no way should he have gone to health, and I would likely have demoted him after the Olympics, but I'm not the PM am i?
BSkyB and funding aside, he was responsible for
- the Football Governance Review (seemingly successfully kicked into the long grass by the Premier League)
- the 4G auction (successfully delayed multiple times by all five mobile telcos and BT)
- misguided (at best) comments on Hillsborough based on pure conjecture.
- the 4GS security fiasco at the Olympics (and attempting to interfere with the Opening Ceremony)
That said, he's apparently seen as having a good handle on how to deal with the media. Given that the bulk of the NHS reforms are through and it's a case of managing the fallout now, having someone who you believe is good with the press in Health probably makes sense.
*How is Hunt clueless?
In no way means that someone is capable of running the department that is the biggest employer in Europe, and which probably requires the most technical and scientific knowledge in the cabinet.
If you don't have a grasp of your brief, all the qualifications in the world mean nothing.
bit mainstream but I can't bear him or his face
is a current peeve. Although the fact that she can finish fourth in her constituency vote, yet still be deemed worthy of leading her party provides some light humour.
Of the new intake, I guess Dominic Raab and Louise Mensch are/were the worst for this. Any time they're asked a question, instead of asking themselves "what do *I* think about this?", they ask "What would a Tory think about this?".
They're agressively pantomime villian Tories. You get these cliche types in all parties, but I guess we're just discussing the Tories here.
I sometimes wonder from her TV appearances if Priti Patel is just a satire on right-wing Tories, or whether she's for real.
the order changes daily
Thatcher, Tebbit, Parkinson, Ridley, Joseph, Baker.
Proper lads, proper haircuts.
Proper old-school Tory bastards.
I mean I get hate for his policies, but I don’t get why so many people take a personal dislike to him, he always seems, in terms of personality, a fairly decent sort.
Probably least favourite is Peter Bone or Nadine Dorries. Dorries for that Abortion amendment and being a douche, Bone for just being a plain old douche…
I mean, sure she's always saying something awful and objectionable but she's never going to get into a position where she can ruin millions of lives like the cabinet can
Sometimes I see her as a pantomime figure and a figure of fun, but the fact remains that she's still got that public platform to preach awful stuff from.
I think I hate the platform that she gets given more than her, herself.
They're just plain mental and, if anyone takes any notice of them, probably dangerous.
although there is a special circle of hell reserved for Dan Hannan
does anyone in the party actually care about him, though?
beat me to it : (
Just because I always seem to bump into him at QPR games, usually after we've lost and I want to shout GOVE YOU'RE A CUNT but he's always got his kid with him so I can't
His PR campaign is going remarkably well then. He's a true blue, dyed in the wool Tory cunt. But he stutters and calls table tennis wiff-waff SOP ALL IS FORGIVEN.
Don't worry about £250m of transport investment being cut. Don't worry about bus fares still going up. Don't worry about the abolition of the bendy bus that carries 3 times the amount of passengers but not replacing them with 3 times the amount of buses. Don't worry about the cut in CPOs. HE SAYS WIFF WAFF.
What a fucking great bloke.
AND NATURAL LIKE AN ACTUAL PERSON
and I'd hate to see him in a job with powers beyond planning and transport in London, but the likes of Gove, Hunt and Osborne are doing a lot more harm to the country at the moment than Boris is doing to London.
He's almost certainly holding London back a generation due to his lack of strategic planning but his actual policy is only really tinkering at the edges... he's not actively making things much worse in the way that others are on a national basis.
I am sorry this upsets you.
A lot of Tories with policies I thoroughly disagree with may actually be nice people deep down (heard from a veteran civil servant that on a personal level Thatcher was much more pleasant to work for than Blair and Brown) but Parkinson came across as just a deeply unpleasant man.
an obnoxious troglodyte and an unrepentant crook to boot. Plenty of total twats in their 2010 intake though - Priti Patel is a particularly unpleasant (and thick) gobshite.
