If so, please enlighten me: are the Maths QTS tests as difficult as the online practice tests?
but there's currently a 15% reduction in place, so how much will I be charging?
I did Secondary about five years ago and you'll do the same tests regardless of Key Stage.
Any tips for a successful application though?
but generally, having a good idea of what teaching is & why you want to do it as well as an understanding of current educational politics/ability to discuss current affairs in education. They also give you hypothetical scenarios and ask how you'd deal with them, which gives you an opportunity to draw on past teaching/TAing experience. And there are maths&english skills tests in the interview so brush up on things like systematic synthetic phonics. Oh and you have to teach a mini lesson so make sure you plan it properly!
My gf is planning an application for next year, started her first voluntary placement today to bolster the application out. Think Goldsmiths is what she's planning on applying for so I'll pass all that on, cheers!
Depends on how good you are at maths really.
You dont have to pass it first time.
has not only raised the pass mark this year, but there are no more free retakes. Also if you don't pass after two retakes now, you can't take the test again for two years, during which time you are forbidden from taking a qualified or unqualified teaching position in any school in the UK. o_O
What a twat.
I'm still convinced he's the devil incarnate though...
and yeah, the actual tests are pretty much the same as the practice ones...
I dunno, but I have a job interview for a Primary team at an educational publisher next week. I need to brush up on my primary knowledge!
