is it not just because it#s hard to sleep properly when you're sat up? so you get a bit tired
No, people have been complaining about nothing for a long time.
not the banal ones, the ones where you are clearly lying
and being a condition
Look it up ffs.
cut him some slack
hate clueless Cat_race
and it was just "oh i feel a little tired"
everyone is a hypochondriac
actually, I don't. anyone know how long it takes to get the the moon, btw? couple days?
That said, I don't remember a single time I've heard someone complain about it and thought anything but "Oh booohooo you fucking wet wooden spoon"
this is what i mean
I had it when I went to Japan and again when I got back. Didn't even feel tired when I got off the plane, it wasn't until a couple of days later that it hit me like a boggy wave.
Apparently it is worse flying from east to west as you miss out on more hours or something.
it's the same number of zones if it's the same journey
saying it's ok for people to find it hard to get up in the morning?!
rather than tedious fucking logic robots
until you write me 5000 words on how much you love Frank Ocean.
is essayist a word?
is indeed pathetic, because it is a modern middle class dilemma, named for something that people who are able to fly long distances are subject to......whereas there are many people who have worked shift work and have to have changing sleep patterns.
I have worked both 3 x 8 hour shift patterns 5/7 and 2x12 hour 3:4 pattern 7/7
What happens if a coal miner emerges from the pits and hops on a plane to New Caledonia - is it real if he finds himself falling asleep at 2pm?
Obviously if you've only been awake 6 hours or whatever, you're not going to be able sleep just because it's midnight where you are now and that's when you're supposed to be sleeping. It doesn't need a name.
it's like a stubbed toe. doesn't need a name. you've banged it. it's fine.
you'd be dead tired after sitting in the same place for 28hrs though
(assisted by industrial-strength sleeping pills nicked off my grandmother) and it makes zero difference to how your body reacts once you arrive. Sleeping or otherwise is irrelevant to jet lag, because the issue isn't tiredness
like neo in the matrix
and I'm one of those people who can't sleep unless I'm lying down. I really don't think I had more than an hour's fitful doze at a stretch. Didn't help that we kept stopping & having to get off the plane. Oh and we were sat on the tarmac in Brussels for four hours in sweltering heat, with the air con turned off (that was one where we had to stay ON the plane).
I was beyond monged, it took me a couple of weeks to get over it.
Or am I going to be called a racist? Please let me know when you've come to a conclusion on this issue.
people disagree with me because they just love disagreeing with me but when people actually take a moment to think about what i am saying then everyone agrees with me and i'm in charge now where is my crown?
and ruin everything for everyone.
i only flew across 1 time zone
So yeah doesn't really need a name
it's just like "time to recharge". what the fuck is your body even doing while you are asleep? i have no fucking idea
getting a hard on then letting it go limp then getting a hard on again?
and then they can tell you about their superior life.
i'm not into that
Because in that situation the tiredness would be rectified by a night's sleep.
Jet lag can affect you for as long as a week afterwards, regardless of the hours you keep or the times you sleep after you land
oh, it's dark, i'm supposed to be asleep
And then STFU.
Stop giving him what he wants.
you need to get zen my friend
You're 30. Stop trying to antagonise people on the internet.
stop getting so upset
Neither am I angry. Twats on the internet have little effect on my mood. I just don't understand why they have to be twats on an otherwise entertaining and informative forum.
I have a suspicion he's this annoying in real life.
If he's like this all the time I don't know how he's not getting sparked out on a daily basis.
I'm not patronising you, but it's far far more than just being tired. It's very similar to "turning around" from a night shift, but far more disruptive on the circadian cycle that we've developed over thousands of years. It's only very recently when we've been able to skip ahead of the turning of the earth.
If you think it is just being tired then you're mistaken. Sorry, c_r, but it's true. It takes me about three weeks to shuffle a proper jet leg.
I used to work nights to.
and they caused me to sign up to this very website. so yes, horrible. :D
you know i once did 31 consecutive 12 hour night shifts. that was a fucker. why were you offshore? were you making oil?
14 was my longest stretch, maximum allowed offshore.
The gist of the argument against seems to be that people don't like hearing about it, or that flying is expensive, ergo it doesn't exist. So, actually, I'm CERTAIN it's the know-nothingness
i mean, i understand the basic concept tho
what about california?
But you're more likely to get it coming back (travelling west to east), as you lose time rather than gain it.
You won't get jet-lag travelling North to South (or vice versa) as you don't cross time zones.
cat_race has taken a flight from New York and decided jetlag doesn't exist.
Next week: cat_race dives to the bottom of a swimming pool and wonders why he doesn't have the bends.
i started going swimming recently
because it would give me bends
the first time you've ever made me laugh. gonna pay closer attention to you from now on.
then being hungover. no jet lag has been witnessed
it's just coz you've been backwards in the time zones so if you force yourself to be awake when everyone's awake and asleep when theyre asleep and if you csant do asleep when theyre aslep jst do aweake when they're awake the nexr day and you will definitely be able to do asleep whn they;re asleep after that and you will be fine.
she was tired
until I went to bed after arriving in Thailand a woke up two days later thinking it was that morning.
I can't remember if this is what happened but it felt like it.
Anyway, it's more the being wide awake at night that's annoying.
