Have you ever had any weird letters sent to you at work?
A Fall-esque art rock concept album based on a suburban man's wild fantasies the government are waging a chemical warfare campaign against him in his suburban maisonette in Uxbridge.
Towels, napkins, loo roll, that sort of thing.
makes total sense now...
It was from the wife of our head of security. YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP.
We got a letter at work once threatening to "chop our hands off" if we didn't give him customer service. Don't know if we bothered replying.
from this guy sometimes: http://www.site.ars-fs-v2.com/BULLITENS.html
The latest one was titled 'Is Mexico About to Become a Mormon Republic?'
Mormon colonies in Mexico and a conflict they've become embroiled in with whatever the local cartel is.
Maybe that guy is onto something and not just sending crazy faxes into the void.
One is about a lawsuit he's filing against the FBI
The other is about the death of an FBI agent
That's beyond bizarre
Particularly the bit about the parrot repeating words it had never heard before.
Although if the parrot had ever happened to overhear any radio or telly broadcasts than it could have picked them up I guess.
When I worked at the Inland Revenue.
I was 37 hours down on my flexi-time by the time I quit though, so fuck you, government.
we received a letter from someone written on the back of a bean can wrapper
so I've had a few corkers over the years. One of the funniest though wasn't from a nutter, it was a bloke complaining about being barred from his local pub after he complained that his pint was flat. He had attached a 'script' of the argument between him and the landlord with all the swearing asterisked out.
during his employment which has made him/her ill (turned him/her bonkers too, clearly.) Reads like a pre-litigation threat, albeit a very odd one. I'd probalby pass ot the police, just to be sure.
Can't see it at work. Flickr is no good to me either. Come on guys, do the right thing
we got a letter through the post. Opened it up and it was just loads of little scraps of paper.
It was a slow day so one of the runners kinda matched it up like a jigsaw puzzle with sellotape.
It was a rejection letter along the lines of "Thanks for your application but we don't think you're quite suitable for the program".
Asking for money from our company to build a 5 metre high, 1 metre thick wall all the way around his house.
the "trying to stop me from writing and sending this" in particular says it all. disturbing
i might send one to my work too. looks like fun
a guy also came into the homeless shelter i work with an email from his lawyer claiming that he was set to inherit $14m. Bit surreal.
I've been getting anonymous notes left on my desk at work for a while now. My boyfriend told me to leave a reply so I said 'Hi to whoever is leaving the notes'. They then left a note saying 'Thanks for small message. I appreciate you have a boyfriend and I have a girlfriend but I still like you! I'm sorry. I won't write again unless you do' I didn't respond to this but they are still writing to me and I don't know what to do, its making me uncomfortable. The messages aren't anything nasty though so if I told someone higher up I dunno if they'd take me seriously. Has anyone had experience of this? I've not worked in offices for long so I dunno if its that unusual.
Bring it up. Email will go round to office saying "STOP LEAVING CREEPY NOTES ON DESKS" - person will take notice. Unless its a cleaner, cleaners are sleazy bastards (who dont have work email)
but it could be anyone who is doing this. The office is open plan, about 40 people on my team and many more on other teams. Chances are it is someone from another team so they probably wouldn't get the message. I was thinking of leaving another message telling them to stop but this might provoke them even more. :(
Bear in mind that the person doing it may have done it before, either they are tolerated (a bad thing imo) or they are very good at manipulation/squeezing out of things.
Personally, I'd keep the notes for now, don't send anymore back, and try to find out who the creep is.
The person said in the most recent note I got today that they had been off since 17th Sept. I'm not sure why they disclosed this as if it was someone on my team, I could ask HR who has been away in that time. I'm not sure they would tell me though.
there was a lady who used to phone up and say things like that to me, paranoid rants about how Tony Blair had killed her brother and the government were plotting against her. Our rule was that we listened to people for up to five minutes then cut them off politely. I guess people with these kind of issues (is it schizophrenia? not sure) find any phone number or address to get in touch with, it's not directly meant for the person who receives it.
She once said that she was really frightened, because she had worked out that if you took the initials of the people involved in the Soham murders, Jessica, Holly, Ian, er.... it spelled JIHAD.
She had tears streaming down her face as she said this. Completely outside of my ability to deal with, as I discovered.
