I had this down as a comedy/kids episode but shit is getting big and dark fast
I like the scientist
what a way to invade the earth!!!
this bad guy is a bit like the Inquisitor from Red Dwarf in some ways
be brain damaged from having heart attacks so long ago?
and that makes me really sad. :"(
and as per soapys post - out of hospital cardiac arrest survival rates are pretty poor
there's loads of it. this is the bbc
From what I gathered it seemed a bit Tennant era spacey-wacey.
spaceship exploded and everyone who had had heart attacks twenty minutes earlier just got up and carried on just fine
It was really good up until then.
the bad guy ship and make up looked really good though
angels next week though, calling the statue of liberty being an angel too.
That would immense
Definitely a bit of an easy resolution though. Really the fuck-up was wiping out a third of the planet in a relatively light-hearted episode - it jarred a bit and the Doctor and Amy looked remarkably unperturbed about a third of the population being killed. So yeah, the third act was a fuck-up. Lots of nice stuff in it though.
Although I'm developing a seriously disproportionate hatred of the cliche of getting real newsreaders to appear *as themselves*. It's shit.
It makes it feel a bit more real and scary.
they are ruining it!
there was too much stuff to fit into 45 minutes and have a good solution.
the trailor for the next episode looked fun, but again I'm concerned that it might be rushed. i mean there were angels everywhere and, i don't know, i want it to be terrifying, not just run run escape the angels run run escape the angels run run oh no, people have been lost in the past.
it didn't make any sense AT ALL
a macguffin type thing - just something to hang it's character development stuff off. The threat was arbitrary - they just wanted to explore the characters relationship with the doctor.
(Or more cynically they were doing that thing like in movies where the make someone as lovable as possible before KILLING THEM OFF. Like that fucking gay uncle in Four Weddings.)
But I still think it was a bit pooey.
Nice linking to the last episode.
I enjoyed this one much more than last week, it had plot holes and it wasn't great but I really enjoyed it.
