I used to be an ipod owner, carrying my mobile separately. As phone functionality came to surpass that of old ipods (and given that I don't want to carry two electronic devices around), I transitioned to first a Sony Ericsson (K800i, a long time ago) and then HTC phones (currently on a Desire HD). I was shocked to discover that when compared side-by-side the Desire HD sound quality seemed a lot better than my old ipod (using Sennheiser CS400II).
I'm due a phone upgrade soon and I'm trying to decide between a Sony Xperia T, an HTC One X (or new variant given they've an 'announcement' coming) or an iPhone 5 (unlikely). A key consideration (about 50% of my decision) is the sound quality for mobile listening. I have always been skeptical about Apple products (my 2 ipods despite being simple beasts have always crashed regularly, certainly relative to my HTC), but don't want to take my inverse snobbery about all things 'i' too far if iPhones are up to it. Equally, the HTCs have been great (and Android is great). Sony ought to be good for sound given their walkman credentials, but I haven't used one in a while.
Could you lovely DiSers please give me your thoughts on my best phone/music solution....?
PS I read 'tech' sites regularly, so I'm not interested in general aspects of these sorts of phones, just their sound capabilities...
