Why don't cars have a black box?
After nearly getting speared by someone indicating the wrong way on a roundabout last night (was indicating left, when in fact they were going right around the island), I had a thought.
Nothing like those things insurance companies use to spy on you, but like the data recorder on aircraft where it records anything that the driver does for the last 15 minutes or so - so how much throttle and brake has been used, use of lights, indicators, speed, G-forces etc.
It would make accident investigation much easier and could also potentially be used if there was any dispute between drivers over who was to blame for an accident.
The data wouldn't be remotely monitored in anyway and wouldn't store more than a short history of events, but could just be plugged into a computer by the police if they wanted to know how a car had come to be upside down in a ditch, for example.
Good idea, yes?
