Is there anyone here who does motion graphics, or any graphics stuff really
who'd be interested in collaborating on some video/visuals ?
I'm looking for stuff that carries the aesthetics of the visuals I'm using on my bandcamp page in a way that's similar to what Will Hurt does with Floating Points - basically a glorified screensaver mediaplayer motion thingy
Would there be anyone here interested? Or know of anyone else they could recommend - or maybe other web forums ?
here's the stuff I mean

anyone?
Someone on here must do this kind of stuff?
yo
i'v started to mess around a bit with stuff like that
i've only made one thing so far tho, and i'm very slow!

andyvine did animation i think - he might be a good bet?
i don't know who will hurt is so it might all be totally inappropiate
Will Hurt is just a guy who does an A/V project with Floating Points
here's an example

what I'm really interested is the mathematical precision of digital editing etc. but combining it with pre-digital aesthetic of actual models and drawings - hence the pics on the bandcamp which are by this guy

I also really like lots of Oskar Fischinger stuff

you get the idea?
I'm gonna look at your video now
interesting
i can't look at youtube etc at work but i'll check that tonight
I love Oskar Fischinger
Quite similar to Norman Mclaren's early work which I wrote my dissertation about

My YouTube channel is www.youtube.com/andyvine but as you can see it's not been updated since I graduated... I'd love to do more stuff in this sort of vein but it's finding the time I'm afraid. Especially at the mo, I'm really busy. I'll look at your other links later and have a think :)
we are ALL busy vine!
I know, I know
interesting
did you study John Whitney at all?
love his analog video stuff too

Not heard of him
Like those kaleidoscope kind of visuals. I was in some art shop last weekend and they had a make-you-own kaleidoscope kit but it didn't look very exciting, like it was just the parts of a kaleidoscope and not much scope for coming up with something original, otherwise I would have bought it.
you've never heard of him ? What?
the guy was a Don

A lot of that rings bells actually
Turns out I'd just forgotten his name
busy busy busy
good video
merci
first attempt innit
I think you'll really enjoy the Oskar Fischinger stuff
check it with the sound turned off and this playing in your headphones to get the effect I'm after

wil do!
might do it at lunch time
let me know what you think
OK!
i'll probably do it tonight now instead
SOMETHINGS COME UP!
oo er
how about now?
hello
I've had a look at it all now.
I reckon i could do something like that - especially in the vain of the Oskar Fischinger stuff.
The Will Hurt stuff is auto generated by the music yeah? Like it is in realtime - fuck knows how that happens - i assume its max/msp/jitter stuff but that's totally out of my skillset - but i could do some kind of loop thing that matches the bpm (not auto matches - just done so it does match yeah?. the loop probably wouldn't go on too long - but once it's done you can just lay filters on the top of the layers, or change the colours or reverse it or something to create variations on a theme.
Getting a kind of pre-digital aesthetic I think would be a LOT easier with simple shapes - like you could more easily create the shapes using non digital means and then have them manipulated digitally - not sure it that makes sense really - it does in my mind.
Like i above I'm pretty (very) new to all this so if i did anything it would take a pretty long time, but could be interesting - i'd learn some new techniques i guess.
Cheers
On my phone ATM so DiS is unreadable. I'll DM you later. Cheers

I saw his piece called Raumlichtkunst at the Tate last week,
It was absolutely incredible.
jealous
You know the first thing I thought on seeing that Fischinger stuff was
"So THAT'S who Disney ripped off for the opening to Fantasia," but it turns out he did that.
So Toccata & Fugue from that is probably the most famous example of his work (surprised you didn't mention it). It also explains what you were talking about, which sort of eluded me.
Sounds amazing. Good luck.
well, you might say that
but the definitive audio visual orgasm version of Toccata & Fugue is WITHOUT DOUBT this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgbgUrp1a70
Yeah Disney screwed a lot of brilliant artists over with Fantasia
Fischinger included iirc
Who did the five album covers on your bandcamp?
I love them.
(sorry I can't offer any help)
