i'm looking for a sport to get into. something to take the place of football. nothing fully partisan, but definitely something exciting enough to get me going.
thing is, i find the history of most sports fascinating, so i read up on a sport, say American Football, find some ultra tenuous link, decide i'm going to support, say, the Arizona Cardinals, but then when it comes to watching - zero excitement.
the same with watching cricket (Lancashire), Rugby Union (Sale Sharks), Rugby League (Wigan), Ice Hockey (Toronto Maple Leafs), etc, etc.
is it possible, particularly with team sports, to sort of fabricate an allegiance one you're of a certain age, or does it have to be in your blood? i think maybe the latter.
