gonna be FUCKING AMAZING!
the Beeb's back on form with sitcoms.
don't fight it.
If they just showed the advert and said after 'SORRY GUYS BUT WE ACCIDENTALLY MADE THIS AND SPENT A BIT OF MONEY, WE'RE BINNING IT THOUGH, JUST LETTING YOU KNOW CHEERS' then everyone would be cool with it.
a Director's/writer's commentary to go with it where the director is saying things like 'yeah, no, in this bit, with him carrying the toilet rolls, I genuinely don't know what I was thinking....I was drinking a lot after the divorce'
I love seeing someone carrying loads of stuff. Like a silly amount of nonsense.
he's from Bellamy's People, which was undeniably brilliant.
I'll get back to you afterwards. I suppose that it probably isn't aimed at me anyway. Tell you what though, if it IS good, then whoever made that ad needs shooting.
Subtle humour at normalish guy goes to loudmouth slapstick easy punchline
delete me /please
this looks incredible
it was a bit racist
It just looks a bit shit.
not the program. it looks fucking great
I'm willing to be proved wrong, but the trailer doesn't inspire me.
Drowned in Sound knows you're not racist, relax.
sadly, i suspect it will be one of those sitcoms that insecure, middle class white people get really uptight about.
Indifferent, I presume.
about 10 years late.
i'll watch it
so funny cos it's so true - Asians families almost always have settee protectors.
no-one thinks you're racist.
honestly one of hte best half-hours of comedy i've seen on British telly in years.
Make up your mind son
It's the kind of broad comedy that'd usually get an 8.30 slot and it feels like the BBC have felt the need to schedule it later because they feel something with non-white main characters needs to be treated as a 'niche' thing.
It's by no means my favourite thing ever but definitely much better than All About Me, which I think was the last time the BBC attempted a broad sitcom with a predominantly Asian cast.
Anyone who hates things like My Family and In With the Flynns isn't going to find a great deal to enjoy here. And I'm probably not going to watch it again for that exact reason. But I thought it was a decent enough programme within that genre - it's just not a genre that really appeals to me.
There is great humour among Muslims. I am glad it has been made.
the BBC received 20 complaints, apparently.
the broadsheets published this fact, than another 145 were made within hours. amazing!
Former Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Yousuf Bhailok said the show was 'the best thing the BBC has done recently. It is good to change the stereotyped image of Muslims always being serious and shouting that has appeared so often in the media. There is great humour among Muslims. I am glad it has been made.'
but i like when everyone just relaxes and laughs at themselves and everyone else as well
don't player hate, regulate.
I honestly can't put into words how great that was.
Especially loved the bit with the prayer mat, and when he got caught kerb crawling.
Already a classic sitcom, imho.
just remembered the scene where he walked in on the neighbour having a piss!
I think it might be deliberately shit, like a send up of terrible racist sitcoms from the 70s? I dunno. My favourite is the Dougal type character. He sounds Welsh.
but it's amazing and therein lies its brilliance.
don't playa hate.
