We got rid of several thousand spam accounts at the weekend. Apparently its made a bit of a difference.
Though I hadn't noticed until I looked for it.
Question - i notice from the festivals board (which you should probably just delete) that most of these new accounts are spambots and not the Russian troll. How do spambots get past the (admittedly basic) human checks given that the questions are y'know, normally relatively niche in the grand scheme of things?
(I had to Wiki which label released Nirvana's debut album the last time i wanted to wind Jordan up, for instance).
are they case sensitive as well? that is a bit daft
I've already pegged the festivals board stuff but it'll need to wait for Matt to have time to check through. It looks like we could just do a bulk delete of all posts going back to February this year and lose 99% of the spam and probably less than 1% of any real posts.
What percentage would that've been of the total membership, just out of interest?
I'd wage money that at least 60,000 of them were Foley.
can we do anything about that?
Concerned IE7 user
