Summerslam 2012
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
Brock needs to win but to satisfy egos it'll probably be a screwy mess instead of the beatdown it should be.
World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio
a) Sheamus in 10 seconds b) who cares c) Ziggler needs to put us out of our misery soon
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show
Punk
Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler
Kane vs. Daniel Bryan
Since Charlie Sheen has stood WWE up this match doesn't matter anymore. Bryan needs a high profile win, so watch Kane flatten him.
Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio
Miz hopefully
WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. The Prime Time Players
Since AW has been (legit) sacked the PTP are worthless. Kofi & Truth win.
United States Champion Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro
Youtube preshow - got to be Santino. I like Cesaro but I'd like to see him do it in a match people will actually watch.
I hope they find a place for Damien Sandow
I love that he could be just at home in 87-92 as he is today.
General consensus question:
I've been following wrestling for the past three years or so, but since Wrestlemania 28 I've been barely interested. Has there been a general drop in how interesting the show is, or do you think I'm just going off it?
I think earlier this year having
Jericho, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Wade Barrett and The Miz all away injured/suspended/shooting a movie meant that they've really had to drag things out that they otherwise would've finished up quite quickly.
Sheamus Del Rio being the prime suspect.
I'm not really a fan of either and their feud is awful but it isn't their fault that all the people who could have intervened have been missing.
the fact that they're having to...
bring back former greats all the time on short deals, or for PPV storylines suggests that yeah, it's got a bit shit.
Brock (michaels will accidentally fuck up HHH's chances)
Punk
Sheamus (Ziggler to cash in and win)
Jericho
Bryan
Miz
Santino
Oh and Prime Time Playas.
Seems pretty obvious to me that Michaels is going to turn heel by crossing HHH.
Probably leading to a big heel stable - Lesner, Heyman, Michaels, some nondescript tag-team, possibly in cahoots with AJ, idk.
.
Would you admit to an attractive girl of a similar age to yourself that you still watch and think about wrestling?
* anyone in actual real life.
Nope.
chicks that don't watch wrestling
actually dig wrestling. you'd be surprised
my girlfriend loves it
though admittedly in quite a superficial way "ooh i'd love it if that one did that submission to me" etc. She's a big CM Punk fan.
he can vice my anaconda anytime
i'd take the pepsi plunge with him
I'd go to sleep with him.
post-coitus.

So Antonio beat Santino in the preshow to win the US title
didn't see that one coming, was quite a fun match.
European Championship back please
I still remember seeing British Bulldog Vs Owen Hart in the European Championship tournament final
one of the best matches ever IMHO
did they "tout" the victory while still in the ring?!
Yup
Ducky, where's your usual match-by-match analysis?
I couldn't stay up to watch this :(
Standout matches? Was Lesnar/HHH as good as Lesnar/Cena from a few months ago? Stunned that Hunter let Lesnar go over clean.
whole things on youtube

Oh righty there
1) Antonio Def Santino: Comedy match where Antonio dominated Santino for the most part, the running gag was Santino kept on trying to retrieve the cobra only to pull one from his butt. He puts the Cobra on who gets distracted by Auksana only for Antonio to pick up the win, it was fine as a comedy opener. *
Chris Jericho Def Dolph Ziggler - Solid back and fourth match but felt lacking, Jericho didn't really sell the ribs he had bandaged at all in the match & that made the whole match seem totally fake (even more so then usual). Wrong man won **3/4
Daniel Bryan Def Kane - Solid match, Kane owned the majority of it but Daniel Bryan got a lot of stiff looking offence. Bryan slaps Kane which makes Kane rage, Bryan gets chokeslamed but Kane wants to finish Bryan with a tombstone. Bryan reverses into a roll up for the win **
Kane then heads to the back after Bryan but cannot find him so launches Josh Matthews across the room as he destroys the back (he's going to be disciplined tonight on Raw)
The Miz def Rey Mysterio -> Standard match with surprisingly clean victory for The Miz. Crowd didn't care. Some good near falls (the have been a lot of good near falls all ppv) *1/2
Sheamus Def Alberto Del Rio -> Better then expected match, Del Rio always seems really impressive in ring when he's properly aggressive and passionate (shame his out of ring character doesn't seem to click as well). Shady finish (and a really shit one at that) Sheamus clocks Del Rio with Ricardos shoe then goes for the pin, Del Rio gets foot on ropes but ref doesn't see after Sheamus pulls it off. Crowd hated this finish because the match had been building well until then, seemed a bit of a cluster fuck **1/2
Kofi Kingston & R-Truth Vs Prime Time Players -> Decent tag match, crowd seemed more into this match then the IC title or the WHC which was surprising. Both teams looked strong *3/4
CM Punk Vs John Cena Vs Big Show -> A strong match with a story, Big Show dominated both guys before CM Punk got the upper hand after a string of failed attempts. When John Cena and CM Punk both made Big Show submit simultainously the match was paused for AJ to announce the match will resume. Big Show gets more offence in before Cena hits him with the AA, but CM Punk quickly pushes Cena out of the ring and steals the victory by pinning The Big Show. ***1/2
Brock Lesnar Def HHH -> Solid match which used a lot of in ring psycology to it's advantage. Wasn't nearly as brutal as the John Cena match but the constant working of HHH arms lead to the Kimura Lock where HHH held on until he had his arm snapped in two where he then submitted. Lesnar leave triumphant after a close match, HHH leaves apologising to the crowd. Lesnar will open Raw tonight
*** 1/2 for the main event
No GREAT matches but this is probably the most solid PPV of the year with no filler of shoe horned in matches, as a result it didn't drag & all matches felt like they served a purpose and I'm intrigued where several of these stories (Kane, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar & Ziggler) go from here.
I can't believe the finish in the WHC match
I thought that with Barrett and Orton coming back and Ziggler surely poised to win and cash in we'd be free of their stale feud after last night.
Surely they can't go another PPV of Sheamus Del Rio
I think you underestimate the persistence of Mr McMahon
Why does everyone wrestle in swimming trunks now?
I want these swimming trunks

Well not everyone
But people like The Miz need something extra to stand out. Seeing as he looks like a fan rather than a superstar. How in the hell did he headline Wrestlemania?
He got popular
then people realised he really isn't up to main event status. Swiftly got replaced by CM Punk and Daniel Bryan who have WAY more main event potential
re: this weeks Raw *spoiler*
Why would you put Jericho v Ziggler contract vs mitb the night after Summerslam?
Surely that's the sort of big time build you should put in one of your biggest events
because Jericho needs to go tour with Fozzy
without the PPV match being too predictable
