Bit of a pity, eh? Must admit I preferred the Beano myself when I was a youngster.
tbh, i almost bought a Beano last month - £1.50!?! Think it was 35p last time i bothered.
Joking aside... yeah I've not read either of them since I was a kid, so I've no idea what they're like now. They both seemed pretty old fashioned even back then tbf.
Dandy only really had one character who I thought was interesting whereas the Beano had lots.
Perhaps they should move Desperate Dan to the Beano to team up with Dennis, Minnie, Rodger, Billy Whizz, and The Backstreet Kids.
My favourite was always Calamity James. Everything in that strip was hilarious.
I'm actually struggling to remember any Dandy characters other than Desperate Dan.
I just remember all of their characters being really square goody-goody losers compared to the ace trouble making Beano crew
Even when I was a kid in the late 90's/early 00's I don't think I knew a single person who read the Dandy or the Beano.
I did read Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts and Asterix though, and look how I turned out.
Rather like the News of the World, the print edition is set to go out with a flourish.
