How would you define poverty?
I would say it's being unable to afford a basic, healthy standard of living. But what that would consist of is a whole different question, not to mention that prices vary so much (especially for housing) across the country.
To take one example, do you think that being unable to afford an internet connection means you're living in poverty?
There are certainly very large problems with income inequality in the UK, but having the poverty line as a % of average income means surely it is impossible to eliminate poverty entirely?
