Erm, not much happening.
Did anyone watch the England v S Korea match?
but obviously Arsenal MIGHT sign Carzola today. Just like they might have signed him last Thursday. Or Friday. Or over the weekend maybe.
Probably going to be a draw. Which is good, because it guarantees we won't drop below the Aussies in the rankings, and gives us something to play for at Lords.
all but securing the SPL title.
Not sure how much of a blow that is to United fans to be honest. Everyone enjoys a Brazilian wonderkid, but I'd imagine they'd rather see that £30m spent on the bits of their team which actually need it.
No really dominant side in France at the moment to put up a fight. So unless they implode, which you'd think Ancelotti is too experienced to let happen, it really ought to be a stroll.
How's City's pre-season been in terms of actually having their players together? Chelsea looked like they were running through a particularly muddy bog (that is when they bothered moving at all) throughout all their friendlies. If City are even remotely fit, we're in for a paddling.
It's just a run around.
Was just thinking that between playing a hell of a lot of games very late last season, most our squad going off to the Euros, a fair few going to the Olympics, losing a fair few senior players and gaining a few newbies, we're looking well off the pace. Think we're gonna be pretty underwhelming for at least the first few weeks of the season.
Dunno. I think he's clearly very sensible and pragmatic- he made very safe, practical decisions last season about selection and priorities. How good will he be at setting an agenda himself rather than reacting to a situation he's been thrown into? No idea.
I'm trying to not get too attached to him.
Particularly the Tevez-Aguero partnership which is showing real signs of blossoming. Tevez looks really motivated at the moment. TBH I'd rather have a motivated Tevez than Van Persie.
One with those not involved in the Euros and then another with all those that where. The first group wooped Wolfsburg on Wednesday with Aguero, Tevez and Yaya all looking pretty much match sharp. The other put 4 past Limerick last night, which isn't really an indication of anything. G Baz, Silva and Kompany all touch and go for the Charity shield, although Kompany will probably play.
but seemingly none of them are match-fit. I know the Charity Shield is pretty unimportant and not really a marker for anything so I'm not especially worried, but I don't think it'll be a 90 minutes I'll enjoy watching.
HUTTON LOOKS LIKE HE IS LEAVING :)))))))))
So, so, so depressing. To Stoke, too, of all the fucking teams. Honestly thought Kightly had more class than this.
We conceded a soft goal against Trabzonspor over the weekend. This apparently means we're going to get torn apart every week and finish bottom
Will he stay at Arsenal? Surely he will have to sign a new contract to do so. Looks increasingly like teams are calling Arsene's bluff on whether he will sell him, in an effort to land him on the cheap.
Vidic is back! Great to see him get an hour of football, and a clean sheet.
Fergie misses the match, rumours arise that we're on the brink of signing various players.
I assume that sooner or later they'll settle on £16m-ish, certainly can't see anyone matching the asking price or us even considering some of the amounts reportedly bid so far.
Wouldn't be hugely surprised to see him stay for his last year though. If Wenger thinks he can be relied on not to kick up a fuss then there's definitely an arguement that keeping him for a season is worth more than, say £10m, especially with 2 strikers who've never played in England to bed in.
But at that price suddenly the competition for his signature would heat up again, so £16m sounds about right.
I just hope it could get over and done with, so that if United sign him I can pretend he was the player we needed all along.
If we sell him for that we'd probably have to spend twice as much on a ready made replacement and go into the season with 3 forwards who have never played together or in the Prem, so we lose money and destabalise the squad.
Keeping him would allow Wenger to plan a succession, bed in players and work long-term on deals for replacements rather than panic buying. If the player himself won't force a move, then it's up to the buyers to do so by bidding over the odds, like City did with Nasri.
It's the equivalent of paying the lad an extra £200k a week, when you're not even convinced he'll show up.
The only way it makes sense for you to hold on to him another season is if he signs another deal as far as I'm concerned.
Obviously it's academic, as you definitely won't have to sell him for £10m.
one of the commenters underneath giving it "all foreigners are racist"
according to one of the people who works at the club. We visited their ground and he told us the floodlights failed for around a mintue and their fans managed to pull and rip up around 40-60 seats.
don't really know what it means in terms of his fitness but good vibes and absolute best of luck to him.
for those who don't have ESPN. Hopefully it'll lead to them getting more live European games.
That's a blast from the past.
I guess everyone wants to play in this game so there isn't room for me to make a cameo?
Fucking Tonton man!
Who knows though, worth asking, might be a little bit of an incentive to sign up for the (torture of the) real deal!
a third of a competitive match...is that normal?
it sucks but we still sell the place out so I guess its working. I mean 75% of it will be Season tickets so there's only ever a few normal tickets on sale in a normal game anyway.
45 is outrageous though, particuarly for QPR ;)
four year deal. big, big signing that. starting to look like a very good team indeed.
hes rubbish isnt he?
Young, not too expensive, lots of upside. Think he also counts a homegrown player and we need more of them, especially with suggestions that Sturridge may leave. Doubt he'll play much, but will be a good squad addition and replacement for Kalou.
like almost Ofeb Martins pace
