The votes are in, and they have all been counted and verified. It’s taken several evenings of slaving over a hot spreadsheet: over 400 different films were voted for, over 1,200 votes cast. And I can now present the films you have chosen as the best ever.

As a reminder, I gave 10pts to a film selected by a DiSer as their favourite, 9pts for 2nd, 8pts for 3rd, etc. On occasion, if there was no order of preference I gave 5.5pts for each. That said, most voters did have a clear preference. However, one thing I would say is that there were more than enough votes cast to make this a meaningful poll.

As I expected, there were some major surprises, both in those selected and those omitted. There were some more (ahem) eclectic choices, some I had never heard of, and some big budget blockbusters.

I will post the results periodically throughout today and tomorrow, so here without further ado are our Top 20 Greatest Films.
