Greatest movie of all time?
it's great though
- varies. Depends if I've watch Godfather Pt2, Glengarry Glenross etc etc recently.
but the second half just really loses steam and gets dull.
The montage of Henry rushing around in a cokey haze on the day he gets busted is brilliant.
Stop with those fucking drugs. They're making your mind into mush. You hear me? Fetch them back where you got em!
I dunno, whenever I start to watch it I just find I haven't the patience for the end half.
Not a complaint I'd level at a Godfather film.
that is my only complaint with Godfather 3. It's not considered the best one because it really sags during the second act. The finale is brilliant though.
(tbf, You can't say that about pts 1 & 2)
Probably because I saw all three for the first time in one amazing marathon. But viewed like that half of Part 2 just seems like an identical retread of the first film, and I think DeNiro's a bit disappointing in it, like there's no meat to his role so he has nothing to really work with.
Still, I'm not saying it's bad because it's definitely not anything like a bad film, this is just a comparison exercise.
but I like the fact that at least you're prepared to stand your ground and make an argument.
For the record, pt2 is my favourite and despite the fact that I think pt3 is the most inferior of the trilogy, it is still a fantastic film - better than most (all?) of the other films released that year.
so i dunno about that.
I thought it was 1991. Please remove the word (all?) from my previous post.
It was (according to IMDB) released 8 March 1991 (UK).
One of those crossover years ones like The Wrestler.
Although in the case of Spider-Man I and II even though they are the same story I prefer the second one, mainly because origin stories are getting old now and the actual action side is better.
Sounds like the new Spider-Man has essentially got exactly the same plot again: Good scientist goes mad, evil and super-powered while trying to do something for the common good vs. science.
All plots will be the same at some level but I like a *bit* of variety to come through.
>As evidence: Christopher Nolan's telling of the Batman story is lightyears ahead of the old Joel Schumacher stories with Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney etc.
>Agree about Spider-man 2 being the best of the Toby Maguire trilogy. Alfred Molina makes a fine villain
7 different basic plot scenarios anyway
pretty good, though.
Quite good, but not even the best gangster film, imho.
movie, but it is pretty good, yeah.
nothing he has done before or since has come close.
Operation Dumbo Drop?
I'm currently rewatching the whole damn thing. Probs my fave show of all time, apart from maybe Bilko.
its not really what i was expecting like its a lot funnier than i thought and i like the stuff w/ tony and the psychiatrist the best
also all the soundtrack music is real good
paulie walnuts and christopher are the best.
Also: silvio's face.
suffice to say, this conversation is over
a) agreed (Godfather 2 - sometimes)
b) & c) Taxi Driver? Raging Bull? King of Comedy maybe? Neither of them has done anything better since Goodfellas though imho
One of the songs is called 'Take Your Love and Shove It Up Your Shitter, You Lying Whore' or something like that.
does he amuse you?
You said he's funny. How the fuck is he funny, what the fuck is so funny about him? Tell me, tell me what's funny!
You may fold under questioning!
this is one of the greatest scenes ever filmed?
best soundtrack anyway
another of my absolute favourite parts of this film is when henry wakes up with karen pointing the gun at him, and when she's lying on the floor as he walks off, the way she screams I'M SORRYYYY
> "One day... some kids from the neighborhood carried my mother's groceries all the way home. You know why....?" [Freeze frame of young Henry running away as the car lot explodes] "It was outta respect.”
> The long tracking shot from the car to the table at the front of the night club
> The montage showing the discovery of various hoods corpses in different locations
So many others
have some of that, sacred cow
