You know, for peeling garlic.

I've got an awesome cutting tool that gets everything into perfectly matched sizes which I sometimes also use.
You're thinking of a garlic crusher. For crushed garlic.

I fell into the trap of associating garlic preparation with mashing rather than peeling. I just use my fingernails normally though

the skin comes off easily. sometimes slice it once lengthways to remove the shoot if it's looking a bit green.

Wasn't a fan.
