Serious question. Seems fair
I think this is what that is. I think.
I think it does but I was too depressed to properly pay attention to anything said to me at the Job Centre when I was on the dole.
there's contribution-based JSA (based on whether you've paid a certain amount of the right type of NI contribution over the past two years) and then there's income-based JSA (which is based on "what the law says you need to live on") but they're the same amount.
amount of road proportional to your taxes paid too. Only been in employment for two years? Better get some comfortable walking shoes
I dont know (idk?) cos I dont drive the NATURE KILLERS myself and dont really understand tax.
but I believe road tax only pays for a small percentage of the upkeep of roads and it probably doesn't cover any of the cost of building new ones.
The official name is vehicle excise duty. I only know because I used to have to sit through lots of court cases where they talked about people not having their vehicle excise disc.
I was just pretty sure there was a big hoohah about car users paying road tax and bikes dont and BLA BLAH BLAH
And bodygund's post explained why they're divs.
And Lucien's post was (surely) a joke that pointed out the absurdity of the OP.
And i'm still confused what you were trying to say (or did you just take Lucien's pretty as being serious?).
Not trying to cause a ruckus
As if me blaming Swype is gonna believed.
Ach, who am I kidding? Those boots are just so damn irresistible.
You pay Vehicle Excise Duty based on how much pollution your car produces. The building and upkeep of roads is paid for out of general taxation and has been since 1937.
It's an annoyingly held common misconseption.
So thats cool. I thought road tax was used for this, maybe Im remembering someone arguing car USERS should BE paying for it. Icr
it's not QI, ffs.
see my other thread
comic book guy voice
and say that people are only allowed to use services proportional to the tax they've paid. For instance, if you're on a shit wage (say under £20k) then should your kids REALLY be entitled to a full-time education, idk?
but not burglary
only half your rubbish should be taken, you can only take the kids to the park at off-peak times (when they're in school anyway) and if you have to go to accident and emergency to get patched up after a car crash a rich person is allowed to punch you on the way out of the hospital.
People may as well just have some kind of out-of-work insurance that they pay into throughout their lives.
LaRouche won't stop with the "knock knock" jokes.
