Very misty. Nearly walked into a bollard.
fuck is wrong with this country
the thunder was so loud that the guy I was talking to on the phone heard it and asked what was going on :D
Cos I was on the phone and it was detonated outside our office and when the person heard he he said "what was that" and I said "theyve just set off a bomb outside the window" and he just carried on! Didn't give a shit.
i did not, but wow.
I work on drumsheugh gardens which is next to it. Right kerfuffle
I'm back in work today. I think my heart's a bit fucked though; it keeps beating irregularly. Should probably get that checked out.
4 days until my birthday. Make a note.
Yesterday I went to the aquarium and saw sea otters.
not great so far. Cyclists in london continue to astound me by their idiocy and arrogance. On my own cycle I think I've strained something in my knee.
And also, my illness is back with avengance. Not felt this run-down in months. Almost called in sick today, hopefully it'll get better as the day progresses.
Played for two hours, with very little down time between games. Feel surprisingly ok today, sweated bucket loads though. Took me a few games to get going, and by the end i was so tired i was flapping at pretty much everything, but it was fun, and i think i did alright considering.
started off ok but after abotu an hour my illness kicked in and it completely did for me. Feet weren't moving, shots and timing way off...very annoying. Still, glad I did it though. I'm supposed to be doing singles training on saturday but I'll have to see how I feel, because that will be an absolute beasting.
Glad to hear yours went well :) keep at it, you'll be amazed at how quickly it comes back.
It was a nice day for a cycle but yeah, loadsa idiots.
sadly everyone between bethnal green and victoria embankment needs to be shot.
So many cyclists slowly ambling through red lights at cross junctions, WTF??!!
but seriously what is wrong with people's brains? Not only are they putting themselves in danger but also motorists and pedestrians. And for what? To get 15-30 seconds ahead? JF fucking C.
This kind of dickish behaviour makes everyone tar cyclists with the same brush and also, more worryingly, sets a bad example to more inexperienced cyclists who then think it's alrught to cycle dangerously.
i actually though i was getting into doing stuff yesterday. Today, not so much. the recenptionist is lining some boxes with bubble wrap. spending the next 8 and a half hours doing that seems infinitely more interesting than whatever it is I'm meant to be doing at the moment.
on the plus side, the puppy on my border collie calendar today is a right cute little fella.
oh bollox, I think I'm meant to be jamming tonight. can't be arsed. an old colleague is moving to america and celebrating by having drinks after work tonight. that seems more fun than getting home at half past midnight tired and sober.
that said, i was passed one of those Yamaha dd55 drum things the other day, we should probably start a reggae side project with me trying to drum
still working on this event
paid work five to nine
DJing at The Caves after work
gotta make CDs for that
gotta buy CDs first
need to pack for Indietracks
INDIETRACKS TOMORROW :D :D :D
went circuit training last night. it was SO GOOD.
Work have a competition going to win 2 tickets to the parylimpics with a night at a swanky hotel so I've entered that this morning. Should be quite good if I win!
went to an art gallery and gig with a really cool girl last night. going for dinner friday (GREEK!)
bumped into bandmate from prospective band at said gig. practice tonight. post-gym! really looking forward to hitting the gym!
indietracks weekend this weekend, which should be cool.
i just set up an account at work and the guy's requested password was Burzum. made me smile.
it was very good BUT i was slightly uncomfortable with all the heavy editing. i've spent years scouring youtube for exactly that sort of thing and i think the material itself sits better when it's presented in its original form rather than being manipulated to feel faster though a lot of cuts etc. they did have a lot of good material though
feeling a little gutted about atp. don't understand why organising stuff and being straight with people is so hard. taking over 36 hours to prepare a public statement is laughable.
jamming tonight will make it better
was that festival?
the use of the word festival doesn't really explain what it was. really we were just in there, over heating, and watching videos that these two guys had shown us
well Dry Bar. So I wasn't there at all really
and there with spirits
and then i read a bit more about what they were going to do and it seemed less like a good idea. I like what you're suggesting though, something quieter and more laid back, more naive even. That makes it sound a bit wanky, but you know, just nice. Here's some videos of some stuff happening.
and none of them were as good as the video i found from japan which is a keep fit video, an english language lesson and a self defense class all rolled into one. granted i found it on youtube and not in a charity shop or at a car boot but you can't just ignore technology to make something seem more authentic.
i'm sounding like i really didn't enjoy it, i totally did though
I don't know how it would work in terms of getting the rights to show the videos. Maybe that was the problem. We should put something like this on
then we can get cracking
I couldn't find that video I told you about last night, I think it's on my portable hard drive. You're going to love it though.
Properly accepted the new job yesterday, and changed the flights last night, I *think* we did anyway, at a minimal cost. Not bad.
Thinking of communting via Waterloo cos then I wouldn't have to change onto the tube, it'd just be a short walk across the river to my new place of work. It'd take a bit longer, but it's a much less busy train, and 2.5 hours a day listening to music / reading / catching up on stuff doesn't sound *that* bad to me as a short term thing.
Even though the Waterloo train takes longer it'd probably work out about the same with tube waiting/delays/walking up and down escalators taken into account.
Estimate the time your journey should take and then add 15mins onto that, btw. Waterloo station seems to be where late trains congregate.
I commuted from Andover to Waterloo for about 9 months, took about an hour and ten minutes on the train and then ten minutes walking over the river. Got a bit annoying by the end but it was fine really.
(Oh and congrats on getting the job sorted. Definitely the right decision to move your hols!)
...so I'm thinking 3-6 months at his slow rate of applying for them.
it's not *that* bad as a short term thing, but if it goes on too long you'll want to kill yourself
is mega easy to get a seat on in the mornings, as only mentals are willing to sit on a train for that long. i guess if the length of the journey does me in i'll have to go via paddington which would be quicker, but involve the tube and standing up every day.
it stops EVERTWHERE, but yeah if you get on at reading you will easily get a seat
This pain is being softened by this being my Friday and a couple of days in Bristol for a wedding starting tomorrow. Bloody love Bristol.
I'm thinking about applying to be an Air Traffic Controller as I'm sick of spreadsheets, I presume this is actually harder than I think it is and actually for all I know contains a lot of spreadsheets.
I know someone who just qualified in something air traffic control-related. She sacked off finishing her science PhD to do it, just bought a lovely house and seems to be pretty happy with her lot in life.
Dunno if there are spreadsheets.
Beth Gibbons is also going to bake a cake.
I am desk dancing.
i'm going on holiday in two days
i need to get some sleep first - i'm so tired at the moment - hopefully i can sleep loads on the flight and it'll all synch up. It probs won't tho.
i've had stupid amounts of work yto do before i go - lots of thing all came in at once - pretty much on top of it now.
feeling pretty inspired at he moment - which is nice.
work is sucking tho - why won't they make us redundant?
HURRY UP CORPORATE BASTARDS!
Apparently my infamous doppelganger was at the Standard Fare gig last night. I was thinking about going to that. Imagine. Apparently he's much taller than me so remember DiSers: IRL andyvine: 5'8". Fake andyvine: 6'5".
Didn't see your doppelganger. Gowman's probably lying again. He does that.
I was in my living room eating pizza watching tennis
THIS WEEK HAS BEEN BRILLIANT
Can't explain how jealous. But, I am jealous. :(
On twitter he started the pun hashtag #menschpunksons (as in the Tory MP, Louise Mensch).
My entry was the, frankly brilliant, "Rand and Deliver!". This did not get re-tweeted.
According to Prescott, the following were worthy of a re-tweet however:
"Neoliberalism in the UK"
"Londons Burning So Don't You Tweet"
"(More tax on) Milk & Alcohol"
"Rock 'n' Roll High (Free) school"
"This is not a Gove Song"
"Hit Me With Your Memory Stick!"
"Reasons (not) to be cheerful"
Seriously, Prezza?! I gave you gold. Solid gold. My talents are wasted on twitter.
Didn't warm-up before football last night and now I'm a broken man
Possibly in love. But that's a whole other story.
spill the beans
I knew you would be the one who would understand!
and I got there and a cheque I'd paid in last week still hadn't cleared so I didn't have enough money to go in and I had to walk all the way home in that massive downpour and now my only pair of shoes that were already on their way out have just fallen apart from the soaking they got :(
Today it's still not cleared so I've had to cancel going to see someone I miss lots in Hebden AGAIN (last week the trainline was flooded) and I'm worried she'll think it's just an excuse or something :(
Going to walk into town now sorting out access to an observatory, then I have to come home and plan my tour for Saturday (come along please, it'll be dead good and some people from the Broom Cupboard are coming)
He muttered summat about seeing me tagged in something. He's totally fb stalking you. Might come on Saturday
I've asked all you lot and now I have a feeling I'll get there and no one will show up.
He did mention to me about not being tagged in it :) BUT I RAN OUT OF PEOPLE I WAS ALLOWED TO TAG.
I'm meeting my friend and her wee babby in town for a brew at 12. I do need to go to Radcliffe at some point to sort a tent out but I could do that in the morning/afterwards. I think I'm going to be there you know. It looks dead good.
Well, come to the beer festival please on Friday if you can but yes, come and nerd it up on Saturday too.
it starts at 5, until 10ish, so I guess go about 6, when everyone else in the entire neighbourhood decides to go
Getting my hair cut and some other stuff in town (possibly the new Liars album which I've managed to not get yet somehow). Bloc tomorrow!
top evening ahead playing poker
and top long weekend in Dorset on the way to boot.
In summary: top
Does that seem like too much? I used to pay far less in a much larger house (but with only one more person).
It's so sunny. I'm lazing around soaking up sun and doing the odd little titbits of work and housework. Tonight, going for a lovely dinner for bf's birthday. I might buy myself a new frock, which seems only fair and right and will take my mind off the horrid pluke that has appeared on my cheek (I mean- my CHEEK. I don't think I've had a cheek-spot since I was 16). Is anybody going to see The Shard's grand opening? (I am probably not.)
haha, amazing <3
oor wullie says it a lot
my cough is now sounding like a knackered exhaust. It's reverberating around the office.
