I watched Drive and Troll Hunter and very much enjoyed them both.
What movies did you watch at the weekend?
was good. fancied a kfc after though.
A mildly enjoyable romp. Would've been better if he'd gone mad and pushed the button.
which was excellent and I now have a new crush
starring Mike Meyers.
Tell me more about what you thought of Troll Hunter please
Found footage stuff gets on my nerves a bit, but this one was about TROLLS and is Norwegian, so it's immediately cooler than most. The CGI was a bit rickety but it just added to the charm, and there where some genuinely funny/tense moments in there.
SO many quotable lines. Mike Myers is much more fun in this than anything else he's done.
although it took me ages to figure out where i knew her from, lol.
i'll say this much for it - i did actually really want to know what was gonna happen towards the end!
genuinely surprised when the murderer was revealed!
Goon - 7.1
Shame - 6.9
Hanna - 6.8
Cowboys & Aliens - pretty disappointing, concept could've been really fun but the end result was pretty standard and dull in places
Bad Lieutenant - the Nic Cage one, great fun. loved all the brutal shots of New Orleans beyond downtown and the French Quarter and Cage was at his manic best.
walked through the front room and my housemates were watching the invention of lying. went out of the room
the norwegian one was funny and the unspeakable act is the best american movie this year
Just got Netflix though. Oh dear...
Very enjoyable, if a someone tagged-on ending.
which was shite.
despite some laughable opening "i'm a frustrated writer" scenes and a couple of dodgy gangsters, i thought it was really, really, really enjoyable.
Particularly liked the scene where his girlfriend took one of the tablets, turned into La Femme Nikita and sliced a baddy's face open using a young girl's iceskates. That wasn't ridiculous at all.
Primer: may need to watch again but solid 7/10
without giving any spoilers out here. Left me feeling quite hollow about the whole thing. Otherwise I really enjoyed it, apart from the farting bit which just seemed poorly advised...
Good film after the DREADFULLY DULL first half.
I actually thought the animation / CGI was brilliant for the budget. Loved the massive troll towards the end of the film and the wood troll (?). I think I'm totally done with found footage even if this was different. I watched Grave Encounters not that long ago and really just laughed at the premise(s)
It didn't bother me one bit though, could've been stop motion (in fact that would be awesome)
I'm almost done with found footage, but quit want to see Chronicle, have you seen it, know of it's worth a watch?
I had no idea it was 'found footage' though
It used it really well, was clever about how it incorporated it into the narrative of the film.
In fact the whole thing was smart and well done, I found it a bit too humourless though, so although I liked it, I'm not sure how much I can say I enjoyed it.
The Hunger - I was too tired for this.
Bridewars - Worst film ever?
and about 8 hours of Breaking Bad
9/10. Enjoyed the singing animals.
Lockout (Luc Besson film)
Thoroughly enjoyed both.
Young Adult - really enjoyed it, quite funny and Patton Oswalt was really good in it.
but the less said about that the better
and her fake orgasms cringing.
also that thing she does with her lower jaw looked ridiculous:
and I thought the ending was a massive blah.
- Young Adult. 8/10. Charlize Theron's the hottest women in the movies right now. Good fun.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. 9/10. So much better than the "original" version. Follows the books better and makes more sense.
I don't really know what happened in it
both excellent films. Both films exceeded my expectations. Persepolis was really well delivered. Melancholia had a strong cast and I love Charlotte Gainsbourg, and the first 7 minutes of the film are EPIC.
Both 8s. I have been spoilt for films this weekend. Also saw about half of Mr and Mrs Smith last night, switched it off coz it was crap.
Bit frightened that it might make me itch by being really kooky though.
I noticed the colours about halfway through and immediately wanted to watch it again because that's all I could pay attention to then. So well made, written, acted. Great film.
You're my personal man from Del Monte.
if I say so myself.
it was ace.
First one - still good.
Second one - pretty shite. Such a cynical money-making exercise
i want to marry that film
so so good
His SECOND totally DIY feature, followup to "We are the Strange" (2007). Pretty amazing/weird piece of work, his style/technique has developed a lot (he's dropped the videogame collage aesthetic and gone for a full CGI kind of Ninja Scroll/Brothers Quay inspired style o_o) and there's a greater emphasis on plot and character and a really unique melancholy atmosphere.

(Not quiiite a JAG because while I know him on the internets and met in real life a couple of times I had nothing to do with actually making the film ^_^;)
I do quite like inoffensive romcoms for whiling away the time, but sometimes the vacuous characters and glaring awfulness get to me. This was the case with both of these films.
dude. howard hawks just dropped a few feet deeper
Surprisingly enjoyable old-fashioned picture of the type you don't really see anymore. Cameo from the dog in The Artist too.
Also Kung Fu Panda 2. Undemanding, but enjoyable. Jack Black is far more bearable in cartoon form.
I really liked it cheers
