Anyone gone on secondment before?
Any good come of it?
I got a better job out of it too. seemed to me like a long job interview/trial
i was away from home 5.5 days per week for a year. i did it well but it was fucking awful. they asked me to stay on at the end and i said no.
Secondments are often given to the least ambitious staff member if it's perceived that they're getting a bit too comfortable and stale. In that sense it can be a good thing for both employer and employee.
If you are going on secondment, make sure it's to somewhere where you can make lots of varied contacts, and if you're in the private sector, don't go into the public - you'll effectively be putting your career on hold for the duration.
I'm thinking that there's acres more scope for career progression with the NHS than there is with, say, A N Other high street pharmacist.
Within the construction sector, at least, being asked to go on secondment into the equivalent public sector is now seen as a backward step.
all the good people on my team would get them and leave, but because they were only secondments we could only replace them with agency staff. so I'd end up surrounded mostly with idiots, and all because I had a crippling lack of ambition. IS THAT FAIR
but then I found that you got it back paid at the end. Fuckity fuck. I still think their a joke. If someones worked for you, you either give them the job or don't.
Probably good I never go above agency temp jobs
Yes, please. Can't get enough of him.
I'm pleased to confirm that my application for a secondment has been succesful.
I'll be writing humourous comments at the bottom of reviews in the Quietus for the next 6 months. See you all soon.
But other wise no, just one condiment.
