Remember when Mehodor started a thread all about that tingling sensation you get when people do things really quietly and methodically?
It has a name: ASMR: http://www.asmr-research.org/
Anyone want to watch 55m of this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBoUgI4Qy1A
I've never had this tingling sensation.
there's millions of these videos made by a whole youtube community to illicit the feeling.
here's my top two
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogbsIRO7BXs this is my 'go to' one
I love this one, and it relaxes me plenty, and yet I have basically zero interest in the folding of towels. It's more about... the softly spoken nature and tone of her voice, and the some of the considered and deliberate movement of her hands. Hmm, it's really difficult to explain *why* I, personally, find it relaxing, I just know that I do and that it's something innate.
i've had plenty of my mum living with her for more than 20 years so seeing mummy things done isn't relaxing to me *theory*
am I thinking of someone else..?
JUST SO YOU KNOW
i dont get the other stuff though with someone doing a methodial task.
extremely strongly at times too.
Have had it as long as I can remember, in fact, I can pin-point the very first time I realised that I was experiencing it to watching Film '89 one night when I must have been... three years old?
I have lots of 'triggers' too, and I watch a lot of the youtube asmr community stuff, but I tend to be quite particular at the same time. Not every video works, and some are plain awful.
I can't imagine life without it, and wouldn't want to, as I bloody love it and in recent years it's become a big part of my life. Feel sorry for all you people who don't experience it, don't 'get' it or have no idea what it feels like.
not poosie. sorry poosie.
