Should've sorted Primavera out I suppose.
Is there much going on for it your neck of the woods? Just stay away from BBC channels for a while.
and the thought of being surrounded by flag waving cretins makes me nauseous.
this counts as one of those threads, right?
Don't pussy out on this.
Leave still_here alone. I mean, he's an Arsenal supporter, licks a bit too much fanny in feminism threads and has started the odd crywank thread, but he's still okay. He doesn't deserve to be treated like this.
at one of the pubs i frequent there is a sign up saying /come celebrate the jubilee with a freddie mercury tribute band/
are streets gonna be closed off and stuff? i was planning on journeying in on Saturday/Sunday but worried it's going to be horrible. Just wanted to go to the markets and watch Moonrise Kingdom. Maybe hit up the Tate or Wellcome if I have time.
and I'm pretty sure its going to be horrendous. Should have probably rented my room out for a couple of weeks and made some serious pounds.
Though given the size of the Olympic Park, we might also be miles apart.
I'm just south of Leyton station.
I think Saturday will be a pretty normal day but there'll be a lot of disruption on Sunday because of the river pageant. I suspect central London will be like it is on NYE.
Looks like we've got a warm up for the business of the Olympics.
or just play god save the queen loudly and upset the jubilee-ers
to the whole charade. Might nick some union flag/jack bunting and burn it then piss on the ashes.
No, what we need to do is float some militant Islamic rapper down the Thames or something.
but updating it with the bogeymen of the times
Go to the pub, a gig, the cinema, or go for a long walk, bike ride, or the like.
pub is an awful shout.
but in the exact opposite direction to London, so I'm hoping it's not going to be too bad.
Royals, eh? Can't live with em, can't...oh wait yeah we probably could.
should i go see maybeshewill on the saturday night?
not sure why anyone wouls be bothered either way.
I'm not going to be doing anything for it, but if other people want to enjoy themselves celebrating the occasion, then I don't really have any objection to that.
I've been involved in organising a community-centric event that will take place this weekend. There will be flags (bunting). But they won't be union jacks (or saltires, either, in case anyone was wondering): just neutral wafty stuff to make the place look a bit more festive than usual. Blind deference to the Queen by way of splashing the Union Jack everywhere would add precisely nothing to the event.
you could do worse
I assume that makes it less likely that I'll notice anything is happening. Not that it seems very likely that much will be going on anyway, the royal wedding last year was remarkably easy to avoid unless you really went looking for it...
I am going to spend much of the day sleeping. I might then eat some eggs to stop my hangover being fucking terrible. My girlfriend is away with her parents so I am then going to drink Bloody Marys listening to Paul McCarteny, a horror movie with pizza, gin, New Order, Donna Summer, negroni, Throbbing Gristle, slowww, whisky? why? thank you! UFOMAMMUT, sleeps......
PRETTY PUNK, GUYS!
PUNX NOT DED!
Because you fancy PRETTY PUNK GUYS!
It might be really horrible weather.
I'm not a patriot but if it winds you up so much then you've got issues. I think it'll be a good atmosphere myself
what a bunch of indie miserablists. WAH WAH THE COUNTRY WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER IF WE DIDN'T EACH HAVE TO PAY THE QUEEN £10M POUNDS OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS! SHE DOESN'T REPRESENT ME! WAH WAH!
I'm spending the entire weekend dressed as Prince Philip and go round on a horse making inappropriate remarks. Gonna be ace.
I am going to buy a Union Flag and see if I can source a Canadian flag too. Fuck you all.
...a St George Cross, a Union Jack and a German flag. Guess it would be appropriate to fly all three this weekend right?
Shame I'm missing a Greek flag for Phil :(
bunch of idiots making a massive deal about nothing, going round drinking and eating and just watching a stupid spectacle that the majority of people don't give a toss about. But that's enough about Primavera I'm quite looking forward to the Jubilee weekend.
i hate music festivals.
and a lot of wandering between venues / stages and having to put up with morons has never been my idea of an interesting weekend or day.
The only music festival i like is Celtic Connections because it has enough stand alone gigs to not really be considered like most other music festivals. So, the above post is a "Yes.*" with that exception.
reasoned political/economic criticism is one thing, but the number of people essentially going 'look at all those pathetic losers having fun with their little flags, it's all a load of shit and it really annoys me' is pretty tragic
Euro 2012 before/after England are knocked out
The end of summer when there are a couple of days of rain
Too much summer when the sun comes out again
The new Sigur Ros album being a bit underwhelming
But enough about your grammar...
that will be fine right?
this also says more about me than Primavera. Probably.
Funnily enough I will be at, what is for all intents and purposes, a village fete. It's not gonna be that exciting, but it'll be people doing genuine community stuff, rather than drones getting all dewey-eyed about the royals.
take that you drones with your dewey eyes and silly flags
the other 15 sovereign states, 54 commonwealth nations, assorted crown dependencies, and other UK nations? Had a chance to chat with them, too?
